Hotel guests who claim to have been privy to some of Liam Payne's last moments have revealed what they witnessed in the lead up to his death.

The pop star, 31, passed away in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 16 October 2024 after falling from the third-floor balcony of his room at the CasaSur Hotel.

A UK inquest confirmed that the singer's cause of death was 'polytrauma', which is a medical term used to describe the condition of a person who has sustained multiple traumatic injuries to the body or organs.

A toxicology report also found that a mixture of cocaine, alcohol and anti-depressants were found in Payne's blood at the time of his death.

Details about the father-of-one's final hours have now emerged, with hotel guests describing how they heard relentless 'clanging, banging, and whooping sounds' coming from his room at around 2pm local time.

Doug Jones, 36, was staying at the CasaSur Hotel while attending his friend Bret Watson's destination wedding, alongside other relatives and pals of the bride and groom.

He explained that he eventually had to leave his room - which he says was directly across from Payne's - to escape the 'really bizarre noises' coming from the other side of the hallway.

Jones, from Texas, alleged that when he eventually returned hours later, he could hear the door to his neighbour's hotel room constantly slamming.

"It sounded like people were coming and going nonstop," he told Rolling Stone. "It was happening every few minutes."

The wedding guest claimed that someone even tried the handle of his door at one point, forcing him to shout at them to stop, but the racket still continued as the day went on.

Jones said: "[The shouting] just sounded manic, almost insane. I heard the loudest one around five, and then I started hearing all the sirens."

He confessed that he was unaware of the stardom surrounding the guest who was occupying room 310 at the time, before later 'looking up' Payne's name, adding: "I was like, ‘Oh, wow. This is not just anybody'."

According to Watson, who was celebrating his nuptials in Buenos Aires at the time of the One Direction star's death, Payne was originally supposed to check out of his hotel room by 15 October, 2024.

Watson claimed that he had booked the spacious suite which boasted a balcony and views of the Argentinian capital six months earlier for his parents to stay in for his wedding.

However, the groom, 34, alleged that he was informed by staff on the front desk of the CasaSur Hotel that the room wasn't available anymore because there was another guest 'they couldn’t get to check out'.

Watson went on to claim that he later saw Payne become frustrated in the hotel lobby, resulting in him throwing his laptop on the floor and muttering: "F**k this."

He said that hotel staff then intervened and 'a number of people were able to escort him out of the lobby' - but Payne reappeared 15 minutes later looking 'like he was in a semiconscious state'.

Chillingly, Watson claimed that he and his wedding planner witnessed the singer fall from the third fall balcony at around 5pm.

He said that they were both in his room - which was two floors below Payne's - and that the balcony door was ajar, so he spotted 'an object fall out of the corner of his eye'.

"Our wedding planner saw it straight on, and it looked like she went into shock," Watson said. "She goes, ‘Oh, my God. That was a body'."

Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy recently broke her silence on his tragic passing, saying she 'would never have left' him if she 'could see into the future'.

The influencer claimed that the singer 'was in such a good headspace’ when she left him in Argentina, but two days after she returned home, she received a call informing her of his death.

Payne’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry has also spoken out about his death while discussing their turbulent relationship which came to an end in May 2022.
