Lily Allen takes brutal revenge over ex-David Harbour's alleged affair with explosive lyrics on new album

The star released West End Girl today that's 'part fact, part fiction'

Lily Allen has seemingly hit out at ex David Harbour's alleged three-year affair with her explosive new album.

The singer married Harbour back in September 2020, but by the end of last year, it was widely reported that the pair had separated.

Since then, there has been plenty of speculation about the Stranger Things star allegedly having a three-year affair during their marriage.

And as Allen releases West End Girl today (24 October), she has made hint after hint (with some very much not so subtle) about these allegations around infidelity as she addresses her own heartbreak.

The 40-year-old says she wrote the 14 tracks over 10 days as she describes the music as part fact, part fiction and really, it’s not particularly easy to tell where one begins and the other ends.

Allen’s new songs explore the likes of cheating, open relationships and sex addiction.

In the track ‘Ruminating’, she sings: “Ruminating, ruminating, I've been up all night. Did you kiss her on the lips, and look into her eyes? Did you have fun? Now that it's done, baby, won't you tell me I'm still your number one? 'Cause you're my number one."

And during ‘Relapse’ she seems to refer to being in an open relationship despite not particularly being all for it.

“I tried to be your modern wife,” she sings, “But the child in me protests.”

In ‘Tennis’ she seems to make reference to her own ‘Becky with the good hair’ (the villain, of course, from Beyoncé’s legendary Lemonade album following Jay-Z’s alleged betrayal), as she sings: “I can't get my head round how you've been playing tennis.

“If it was just sex, I wouldn't be jealous. You won't play with me, and who's Madeline?”

There is also a track called ‘Madeline’ as well as Allen singing sad lyrics about thinking ‘you’re in love with somebody else’ during ‘Just Enough’.

With lyrics about ‘girls in your bed’, it’s clear the singer is referring to some form of betrayal or cheating, whether or not it’s ‘fact or fiction’.

During an interview with Perfect Magazine, Allen said what was going on in her life ‘was really confusing’.

“Because I didn’t actually know what was going on in my life. I wasn’t sure what was real, and what was in my head,” she explained.

“So there’s a certain amount of, like, joining dots. When you are not given answers, your brain is full of lots of questions. And if nobody’s willing to answer those questions, then your brain starts to answer them for you. And so I think some of that maybe happened here.”

LADbible has contacted Harbour’s reps for comment.
