Macaulay Culkin has had to remind fans of his ‘actual name’.

Cast your minds back to 2018 and you might just remember that the Home Alone actor legally changed his name.

But it wasn’t to do with trying to cut himself off from anyone or coming up with some kind of fresh stage name after growing up as a child star. Oh no, it was simply all thanks to a poll he ran so people could vote on what to change his middle name to.

Before that, Culkin’s middle name was simply Carson, nothing too bad. And yet on his site, the 45-year-old didn’t seem to be able to recall it, referring to it as ‘something dumb’.

"Larry? Orange? Honestly, I can't even remember it," he wrote.

Putting the idea of a new middle name to his many followers - and anyone else who might have come across it - Culkin picked his top five from fans’ suggestions, and if you thought Carson was bad these are, well, worse. The suggestions were: TheMcRibIsBack, Kieran, Shark Week, Publicity Stunt and Macaulay Culkin.

He said at the time that all he wanted for ‘Christmas is a new middle name’.

At an event on Saturday (22 November) celebrating the 35th anniversary of Home Alone, the iconic actor reminded fans which of the five potential names he actually chose, saying: “My name is Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin.”

Yep, the vote landed on his middle name being a repeat of his actual name.

He reminded the crowd of the other options as he said: “Macaulay Kieran Culkin. That would be great. I love my brother. Between me and him we have exactly one Oscar.”

Of course, that references Kieran Culkin’s win at the Oscars earlier this year for his role in A Real Pain.

The star continued: “The final vote was Macaulay Culkin," he continued. "So my name is Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin. If somebody comes up to me at the airport and says, 'Excuse me, are you Macaulay Culkin?' I can say, 'Well, Macaulay Culkin is my middle name.’”

Culkin claims that was the main goal of his name change as he added: “I did it all for that one joke. And a bit on Fallon.”

He had announced the voting poll while on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, before later announcing his new moniker on X after it got over 60,000 votes.

The Uncle Buck actor said it had a ‘nice ring to it’ and it seems like he’s still legally called that nowadays if his latest appearance is anything to go by.

Well, hopefully we have him in another film sometime soon so we can look out for ‘Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin’ in the credits.
