Meghan Trainor has spoken about a health scare that led to her turning to Mounjaro for weight loss.
Weight loss drugs have increased in popularity in recent years, with jabs such as Wegovy and Mounjaro helping people shed the pounds.
Mounjaro, also known as Tirzepatide, is a drug which is administered via injection. It works by regulating blood sugar, helping to reduce appetite and prevent cravings.
It also works by activating two receptors, GLP-1 and GIP, to increase hormone levels, which makes it effective for weight loss.

Opening up about a recent health scare, Trainor revealed what kick-started her weight loss, telling Kayla Thomas on KIISFM that it started with a condition in pregnancy.
“I’m getting a lot of hate online just posting who I am, and everyone’s like ‘Why are you thin now? You were ‘All About That Bass’ girl'." she said.

"And I was like 19 when I came out with that, and I’ve been in a fitness journey since I got healthy — and it started when I was pregnant and I had gestational diabetes."
Gestational diabetes is high blood pressure that develops during pregnancy, usually in the second or third trimester. It occurs when your body does not produce enough insulin, which helps control blood sugar levels.
It can cause problems for both mother and baby during pregnancy, but once detected, the risks can be reduced with effective management.
“Now I’m strength training three times a week in the gym and I am so focused on health, and now I’m obsessed with my hormones, my gut." Trainor explained. “I just want to feel good because this job is hard if you don’t feel good. But I got a lot of hate for being thin so it confused me and rattled me.”
Trainor welcomed her son Riley in 2021, followed by Barry Bruce in 2023. Shortly after welcoming her second child, Trainor explained she had started using Mounjaro to aid her journey.

“I’ve worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy,” she wrote. “And I’m so glad I did because I feel great."
The singer recently explained that she was trying to find ways to silence the trolls who had been targeting her about her weight loss.
“I’m literally for the first time ever, after having babies, taking care of my health to the highest level and I’ve never felt better and I look incredible,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
“I feel great, and that’s when people attack me. I’m taking care of myself. I have to find a way to not be affected by that.”
