Meghan Trainor has welcomed a third baby into her family, this one born from a surrogate, and she's explained why after some people mistakenly assumed it was their business to have an opinion on the matter.
Trainor and her husband Daryl Sabara are already parents to sons Riley and Barry, four and two respectively, but last week (18 January) they welcomed a new child in the form of baby daughter Mikey Moon.
She announced the new addition to her family on social media and praised the surrogate as a 'superwoman' while explaining they'd learned it was the 'safest way' to have more children.
In her post she said: "Our baby girl Mikey Moon Trainor has finally made it to the world thanks to our incredible, superwoman surrogate.

"We are forever grateful to all the doctors, nurses, teams who made this dream possible. We had endless conversations with our doctors in this journey and this was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family.
"We are over the moon in love with this precious girl. Riley and Barry have been so excited, they even got to choose her middle name. We are going to enjoy our family time now, love you all."
Some people commented on the post and criticised her for using a surrogate - not that anybody asked them for their opinions - but Trainor had explained that she'd arrived at the decision after lengthy consultation with medical professionals.
Speaking more about it to People, the singer said that using a surrogate hadn't been the couple's 'first choice' but they'd spoken a lot to doctors about what would be the most safe option for everyone involved.
She said: "I want people to know that surrogacy is just another beautiful way to build a family. It’s not something to whisper about or judge. It’s rooted in trust, science, love, and teamwork.
"Every family’s journey looks different, and all of them are extremely valid."
Trainor said that her surrogate, whose identity has not been disclosed is 'one of the most selfless, strong and loving people I’ve ever met' and her family will 'always be grateful for the care and love she showed our daughter'.

She said the surrogate had given her family 'the greatest gift of our lives'.
Trainor has previously spoken the difficulties she had while pregnant with her two older children - her son Riley struggled with breathing issues when he was born and spent days in intensive care.
In 2023 she told People she'd been diagnosed with PTSD after the birth, explaining she kept having nightmares about the c-section which meant she 'couldn't go to sleep at night' and told her husband she felt she was 'still on that table'.
Fortunately after welcoming their daughter the family seems healthy, happy, and glad they picked the safest option available.
