Mike Tyson has told how his nearest and dearest urged him to start smoking marijuana again after he took a five-day break.

The 'baddest man on the planet' and father-of-seven first dabbled in the world of weed when he was just a youngster - and these days, he's conquered the market.

He founded his own cannabis company - named Tyson 2.0 - in 2021 and the legendary boxer's brand then opened up its own coffeeshop in Amsterdam two years later.

Speaking on his Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson podcast, Tyson previously revealed that he makes his way through about $40,000 (£30,280) of weed each month... so it's safe to say he's more than partial to a puff on a joint.

The 59-year-old reckons that the plant has transformed him into a 'whole different person', in a positive way - and even just a few days without it leaves him feeling out of sorts.

During a recent appearance on the Confidence of Champions podcast, Tyson explained how his wife Lakiha Spicer and children 'got scared' when he quit weed for less than a week.

While sitting down with the hosts - his trainer Billy White and actor Peter Lee Thomas - he reflected on how the substance impacts his personality in comparison to booze.

"I was drinking, I didn't smoke weed," he said of his former lifestyle. "I should have smoked weed, because I was always crazy. That's why I was knocking everybody out.

"When I'm drunk, I'm making a fool of myself, but that's 'not bad'. Smoking cannabis and being cool is [considered] worse than drinking and being a savage."

Thomas then pointed out that he reckons it 'should be the other way around', suggesting that weed should be more socially acceptable than alcohol.

Tyson went on: "Listen, you get you get a bunch of gang members, right? You get a bunch of liquor, they're going to kill each other. You get some weed, they start taking selfies. That was the peace pipe."

He then revealed what happened when he once 'took five days off of smoking' the aforementioned peace pipe.

Iron Mike added: "My wife and my kids would got scared. 'Please smoke, daddy'. Not that I did anything, [I was just] too intense not high.

"People walking by me, just looking, 'Wow'. It’s just a whole different person."

Tyson previously revealed how he took a hiatus from his weed habit in the run up to his highly-anticipated boxing clash against YouTuber Jake Paul, 28, in November last year.

"Right now, I’m living my life disciplined," he told Forbes ahead of his dramatic defeat from the 'Problem Child'.

"It’s been six weeks that I haven’t gotten high or had sex. I haven’t done that since I was a little kid. I hate not being able to smoke, but I’m doing it like I love it; I hate not being able to sleep with my wife but I'm doing it like I love it."

Reflecting on his rise in the cannabis industry, Tyson then hilariously said of his brand Tyson 2.0: "Why did God, the universe, whatever we believe, why am I the face of it?

"An uneducated guy, Mike Tyson, why am I the face of cannabis and psychedelics? Why me? I can’t even spell cannabis and psychedelics."
