Nicole Kidman revealed that she once had to pause filming a steamy erotic thriller as she 'didn't want to orgasm any more'.

The 58-year-old actor made headlines last year after she admitted she had to take a break on set of Babygirl, as she was tired of filming orgasm scenes.

For those who haven't seen the Halina Reijn flick, Kidman plays the role of a high-powered CEO who embarks on a steamy affair with a much younger intern (played by Harris Dickinson) after being dissatisfied with her sex life with her husband (Antonio Banderas).

Which means the inclusion of numerous X-rated moments between Dickinson and Kidman's characters shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

"There was an enormous amount of sharing and trust and then frustration. It’s like, 'Don’t touch me'," Kidman explained in an interview with The Sun at the time.

She continued: "There were times when we were shooting where I was like, 'I don’t want to orgasm any more. Don’t come near me. I hate doing this. I don’t care if I am never touched again in my life! I’m over it.'

"It was so present all the time for me that it was almost like a burnout."

Despite the film's intensity and the need for taking pauses from filming, Kidman wasn't deterred from the project, adding that she wanted to explore 'an area [she’d] never been' as an actor.

"I’m always going, where have I not been? And what can I explore as a human being? And this was an area I’d never been," she said.

Kidman's comments about the film have resurfaced once again, following the news that she had separated from husband Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage.

Neither Kidman nor Urban has spoken out about the separation, however, various sources have claimed to The Daily Mail that the couple's hectic work schedules meant they were unable to spend time together.

According to a report from TMZ, later confirmed by the BBC, the couple had been living separately since the summer, with Kidman said to be against the separation.

The revelation has led fans of the couple to look for clues in previous comments made by Kidman and Urban about their relationship, including the Big Little Lies star revealing her secret to her 'successful' marriage earlier this year.

Meanwhile, an awkward interview in which Urban appears to abruptly leave an interview after being asked about his wife filming sex scenes has also resurfaced.

The moment was later brushed off as a 'nothingburger' by Urban's team, with Kidman later revealing her partner was an 'artist' and therefore understanding of her work.
