Viewers are still stunned by the footage

Following the announcement of the death of OJ Simpson, a video of him pretending to stab Ruby Wax has resurfaced online.

Watch below:

The former American football star died of cancer at the age of 76 on 10 April, his family announced earlier today (11 April).

"On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer," a statement read.

"He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace."

Simpson's face was plastered over news outlets across the world when he was charged with the murders of his former wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.

The NFL player, who was a 1985 Hall of Famer, was the prime suspect in the case.

Both Brown and Goldman were found dead at Brown's LA home and Simpson was arrested and charged soon after.

The likes of Robert Shapiro, Johnnie Cochran and Robert Kardashian famously represented him in the televised court case.

Despite being found not guilty in 1995, Simpson was later found liable in 1997 for the 'wrongful deaths' of Goldman and Brown and ordered to pay Goldman's family $33.5 million (£26m) in damages.

In April 1998, Simpson did a memorable interview with British-American actor Ruby Wax.

After the TV personality asked Simpson, straight up, if he committed the murder, to which he said 'no', Wax revealed that he tried to play a 'joke' on her.

Explaining what happened, she said: "Afterwards, I did a piece to camera saying ‘I’ve been fixed up and I don't know who my date is going to be’ and I'd open to door and it would be him.

“But when he was out there, all the trays were out there and he was looking for a knife, to fool me when the door was open but there was no knife so he grabbed a banana.”

Wax added: “And then OJ called me up on April’s Fools Day in London and said ‘I killed her’, and then went ‘April Fools.’”

On meeting Simpson for the first time, she said: “The first night we went out, we went out with his sister, and all these women came to the table and said ‘Can we meet afterwards’. They came every night and they want to sleep with a criminal.

“I think he wanted me to bust him, he said out of nowhere ‘Want to know what my favourite poem is’ and and he went into ‘Lizzie Borden took an axe, And gave her mother forty whacks; When she saw what she had done, She gave her father forty-one’.

“I thought I could bust him. [I thought] he'd say on air "Yes he did it", and i'd get him in jail. So I was being public defender.”
