New angle of iconic Oscars selfie shows celebrity was completely cut out of photo by accident

Bradley Cooper really could have done with a longer pair of arms

It's hard to believe, but a whopping ten years have somehow gone by since we were all stopped in our tracks during our nightly scrolling sessions after seeing arguably one of the best selfies of all time.

Comedian Ellen DeGeneres managed to break the internet and cause pandemonium across multiple social media platforms simultaneously when she uploaded the celeb-filled snap online.

Take a look at this:

While hosting the coveted awards ceremony back in 2014, she was waltzing around the star-studded crowd when she realised it was the perfect opportunity to gather a group of A-listers to try and break an internet record.

The former TV host aimed to get the most retweets on a photo ever - a feat she did go on to achieve - and enlisted the help of Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Lupita Nyong'o, her brother Peter Nyong'o, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Channing Tatum, Jared Leto and Kevin Spacey.

A lot has changed in the decade since the spontaneous selfie was taken - as some of those stars can't even stand to be in the same room together anymore, *cough*, Brangelina, *cough*, while others have been cancelled.

The iconic Oscars selfie is now ten years old.

But regardless, it still remains one of the most iconic celebrity images which has ever been snapped.

DeGeneres uploaded it to both Twitter and Instagram alongside the caption: "If only Bradley's arm was longer. Best photo ever. #oscars."

But it turns out the actor really could have done with longer limbs, as one celebrity was given the cold shoulder and completely cut out of the photo by accident.

A selfie stick really would have come in handy for these lot, but, I digress.

Social media sleuths found another angle which showed the moment the legendary photo was taken and realised that one star who was unknowingly lurking in the background could have done with a leg up.

One celebrity sadly missed out on making the final cut.

Before DeGeneres dragged up an army of VIPs to get in the selfie, she had also been musing around the crowd and taking individual ones with a few people.

One of these was none other than entertainment legend Liza Minnelli - and it seemed like she also wanted to get in on the action when the group shot was taken as well.

The daughter of The Wizard of Oz star Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli had gotten all dolled up for the Oscars, so it's no wonder she wanted to join in the fun.

She sported a striking blue Halston tunic top and pants while even adding a blue streak in her dark hair to match - but even while stood on her tiptoes, she didn't manage to squeeze in the selfie.

Liza Minnelli was too short to squeeze in behind the A-listers.

Minnelli appears to be stood directly behind Roberts and Tatum in the other snap and can be seen extending her arm out in a bid to get their attention.

Who reckons we should get a petition going to retake the Oscars picture with her plonked in pride of place at the front? I for one would slap my signature on that.

DeGeneres did later also upload one of the selfies she took with Minnelli on Twitter, dubbing the actress and singer her 'best friend' - but it didn't get half as many retweets.
