Riley Reid reveals why she made ‘zero money’ as a stripper before turning to adult films

Adult film star Riley Reid has revealed the reason she made no money in her career before pornography when she worked as a stripper.

The mother-of-one is one of the most recognisable faces in the adult film industry, starting out when she was 19 years old under a different stage name of Paige Riley (and she's not the only one to go under a fake name, many other big stars have done the same).

Real name Ashley Matthews, the now married 33-year-old went on to win dozens of awards in the industry with the Pornhub actress established as one of the biggest stars to do what she does.

Moving to OnlyFans, she then became one of the leading names to showcase the platform and how it can help adult content creators earn a living in a more direct and controlled manner.

In recent years, Reid has become a popular guest on a number of podcasts as she candidly opens up on her career, including the 'weirdest' moment of her time in porn.

She opened up on how the adult industry impacting her ability to date before she finally met her husband, saying it was a pretty tough thing to go through.

Now, she has sat down with comedian Bobby Lee on the TigerBelly podcast, which Lee co-hosts with Khalyla Kuhn.

Sitting down with Lee and co-host Rudy Jules, Reid has opened up on a number of matters including what she did before porn.

That included working as a stripper, where Reid was very open about when it came to making pretty much no money.

Responding to Lee asking her if she had ever worked in a strip club, Reid said: "Yeah I did, before I got in to porn.

"I made like zero money. I lost money because I'm basically super social and friendly and the guys would like hustle me because they'd be like, 'oh she's just going to talk to me and I don't have to give her money'.

"The most I made I think is like $80 one night... and I was like I could make more money at McDonald's.

"I did dances but I didn't know how to sell the dances because I would just hang out at the strip club."

Her slapstick approach to life stories is probably fuelling her desire to get in to comedy, Reid saying she wants to explore stand-up in the near future.

During an interview on Ketone-IQ's Fast Ones series, she said: "In the next 15 years I actually want to get into comedy... I wanna do a cartoon.

"I realise I'm getting older and I can't do porn forever and I'd rather quit before people are like, 'Oh my god did you see Riley Reid."

Now that would be quite the guest if Live at the Apollo is still running on the BBC by then.
