Salma Hayek opens up about her secret to her age-defying looks as she turns 57

Salma Hayek has opened up about what she believes is her secret to looking so young while in her mid-to-late 50s.

The legendary actor has just celebrated her 57th birthday and she seems to be ageing in reverse.

"I’m so happy to be alive and so profoundly grateful for all the blessings!!!!" she said on Instagram.

"My beloved family, my precious friends, my health, my work that keeps me going, my empowering team, my relationship with animals & nature, and the love of all my loyal fans. Happy 57th birthday to me!!!"

She posted a series of pictures of her amid her celebrations and fans flocked to the comments section to ask how she manages to freeze time.

In an interview with ET Online, she thinks 'meditation' certainly helps.

"I really believe it is. People say it's exercising. I think it's meditation," she explained to the outlet.

"You have to find your way. For me, exercising is hard... It's really, really difficult to have the discipline to do it.

"But meditation is a walk in the park, because it's my own form of it."

She added: "You sit in a moment with yourself, that's already meditation.

"But I do it every day."

The answer might come as a disappointment to some who were maybe looking for a quick fix or a product to buy.

While she has attracted a lot of attention for her age-defying looks, she also isn't afraid to show off where she is in her life.

Salma went viral a few weeks ago after she proudly showed off her grey hair.

In an authentic moment shared on social media, she told her followers: “Here’s a tip to cover your white hair without dyeing it. Don’t wear your glasses on your hair.

"Bring on the wisdom.”

It was a refreshing take on embracing parts of ageing.

Sure, there's nothing wrong with dyeing your hair or debuting a bold new haircut to make you feel younger.

However, there are loads of celebrities who are championing the essence of owning your age.

Jennifer Aniston did the same as Salma and posted a video showing her grey hair and fans went wild for it.

One social media user praised her for growing older gracefully: "You look as gorgeous with your greys showing...You will always be loved!

Another added: "Love [to see you] let that silver shine."

While a third chipped in with: "You’re ageing greys-fully! Looks wonderful. Rocking that grey!"

Another person revealed that Aniston's choice to let her hair down (so to speak) had inspired her.

"Love the silver wisdom hairs peeking through," they said. "I'm the same age and thinking about letting mine peek too."
