Seann William Scott ‘changes name’ in rebrand as other is too long

Although, the American Pie actor may still remain better known as Stifler to many

That feeling when someone calls you by your full government name can always be somewhat confronting. Like, just say my first name - or even use a nickname.

Being known better by your first, middle and last name seems like a mouthful and Seann William Scott agrees.

Although, let’s be real, he’s far better known simply as Steve Stifler – the role he of course played in the American Pie film franchise from 1999.

And the 49-year-old still gets called Stifler while he’s out and about, with people shouting it to him in the street or addressing him as that in conversation.

But in somewhat of a rebrand, Scott has decided to kind of change his name, his actual name that is, because it is just too long.

Speaking to Metro, the Shifting Gears actor admitted his full name is ‘a mouthful’.

However, he basically had no choice but to have the three-hander because when he got into SAG (the Screen Actors Guild), there was already another Seann Scott registered.

“So, I either had to change my first name or add my frickkin middle name,” he explained. “Personally, I don’t love it.”

But then he had a bit of a lightbulb moment, as the star added: “In fact, I’m just going to go by Seann from now on.

“Yeah. Let’s rebrand and remove the William and the Scott but add three more ‘n’ s to my first name Just Seannnnn, that’s it. Done.”

Well, whatever you say Seannnnn, but I’m not sure that’s going to stop people from still just calling him Stifler anyway.

Although, he doesn’t seem to mind it too much if this recent chat is anything to go off anyway.

Scott said it ‘doesn’t bug’ him that he’s remained most well-known for the American Pie films as he said people yell ‘Stifler’ at him at least a couple of times a week.

“The other day I was at a restaurant and somebody walked by and went ‘Hey, Stifler, how you doing?’ And I go, ‘Good!’,” the star recalled.

“Because, honestly, you don’t to like, break their heart and say, ‘No, I’m not really that guy’.”

But it did leave his five-year-old daughter pretty confused though, as she has no idea why people would be calling her dad ‘Stifler’.

Scott added: “One day I will have the conversation and show them [the American Pie films] to her and she’s either gonna be horrified and be like – ‘Daddy?!?’ or she’s gonna laugh her ass off.
