Stephen Fry has made a rare comment about the 30-year age gap in his marriage.
The 67-year-old has been married to Elliott Spencer since January 2015, having met at a house party in 2012.
Having reportedly not been photographed together in public since 2019, their relationship is kept very private with the three decades in age difference somewhat controversial.

Fry and Spencer said they had an immediate connection when they first met and got married just 10 days after announcing their engagement.
Celebrating their anniversary earlier this year, the former QI host reportedly wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post: “I’m a lucky man.”
And previously explaining why they aren’t really seen out and about together, Fry said they ‘don’t go to Hollywood parties much’.

During a new interview with Rylan on his podcast, Rylan: How to Be in Love, the mental health campaigner opened up more about the couple’s life.

Having said ‘cheerfulness’ is a huge part of them having a ‘successful relationship’, he noted how their age gap helps keep things interesting.
“He teaches me things I just didn't know,” Fry explained. “He introduced me to Kendrick Lamar, which was a great thing to do because Kendrick Lamar I've decided is a great poetical spirit, a really remarkable figure.
“But that plus, now you're really going to laugh here because I thought, is he insane? He has a great affection for, and I guess you could call it ironic, but it's real - for WWE...”
So, in a sentence that you may not be expecting, the star admitted he’d become a fan of the wrestling and has gone as far as copping tickets for Wrestlemania in Las Vegas.
During a previous appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, Fry joked about Spencer being 30 years his junior as he said: “There is an age difference and I keep forgetting which way round it is but I think he’s younger than me ... but I don’t mind.”

His husband has also brushed off any criticism of their age gap, as he said to reporters at the BAFTAs in 2015 that he doesn’t pay much attention to the opinions of outsiders.
“I don’t care what people think,” he said. “Stephen is the love of my life, the light of my life.”
When it comes to their successful marriage, Fry told Rylan: “When you're in the presence of a cheerful person, it makes everything better. They're like their own sunshine.
“So that's one of the things. If one is down, to help the other come up and understand each other's differences as emotional human beings.”
