Super Bowl viewers think Usher missed huge opportunity with surprise guests at half time show

Super Bowl viewers think Usher missed huge opportunity with surprise guests at half time show

Was there something, someone, missing from the halftime show tonight?

Usher took to the stage tonight for the Super Bowl halftime show, but viewers reckon something was missing.

The ‘Love in this Club’ singer performed the legendary slot for the first time as a solo act, featuring songs from his 30-year career.

And Usher was joined on stage by a host of special guests to join him in his absolute bops.

Popping up throughout the iconic Super Bowl performance included Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R, Will.I.Am, Lil Jon and Ludacris.

But for many viewers, there was one big name missing from that list - and no it’s not Taylor Swift.

It’s pretty common to have special guests during the halftime show, although Rihanna did do it solo last year, as did Lady Gaga in 2017.

But in previous years the likes of Beyoncé and Bruno Mars have made surprise appearances.

Many fans were pretty convinced that a surprise appearance tonight would be from Justin Bieber, who very recently started performing live again after health battles.

Usher of course featured on Bieber’s 2010 hit, ‘Somebody to Love’.

He also featured on a remix of the Canadian singer’s ‘Peaches’ in 2021 with Ludacris and Snoop Dogg as well as writing some bops for him.

Usher was also involved in signing him to a record deal about 16 years ago - bet that makes you feel old.

So, some users on X were ‘heartbroken’ when Bieber didn’t appear during Usher’s performance tonight - although he was watching on from the crowd.

One wrote: “Missed opportunity for Justin Bieber to come out.”

Another posted: “WHERE IS JUSTIN BIEBER?”

Someone else joked: “Usher such a deadbeat why he ain’t bring out his son.”

Another put: “I guess we’re just gonna have to wait until they give Justin Bieber a halftime show.”

While one user echoed: “Can’t believe usher didn’t bring out Justin Bieber. a missed opportunity fr.”

But others actually said: “I’m trying to figure out what song Justin Bieber and Usher have that was impactful for them to perform.” Ouch.

TMZ had previously suggested that Usher had spoke to Bieber about performing together as the site claimed: “Usher reached out to Bieber about performing. We’re told there were no handlers involved on either side … they talked directly to each other.”

But if that is true, it seems it didn’t work out.

Bieber is there watching though, as he and wife Hailey were spotted arriving at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas ready for the Kansas City Chiefs to take on the San Francisco 49ers.
