Taylor Swift’s former boyfriend Conor Kennedy has been placed on Russia’s wanted list for allegedly assisting Ukraine during the war.
Russia has now issued an arrest warrant for the 32-year-old son of US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr, putting him on an international wanted list.
Despite not having any military experience, Kennedy said he quietly travelled to Ukraine in 2022 to help in their defence against Russia.
“Like many people, I was deeply moved by what I saw happening in Ukraine over the past year. I wanted to help. When I heard about Ukraine’s International Legion, I knew I was going, and I went to the embassy to enlist the next day,” Kennedy explained in an Instagram post.

“I told one person here where I was, and I told one person there my real name. I didn’t want my family or friends to worry, and I didn’t want to be treated differently there.”

He said he was willing to die for Ukraine’s cause and was initially sent to the northeastern frontline.
“My time in Ukraine wasn’t long but I saw a lot and I felt a lot,” Kennedy added. “I liked being a soldier, more than I had expected. It is scary. But life is simple, and the rewards for finding courage and doing good are substantial.”
State media outlet TASS reports that he has been charged with committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 353 of the Russian Criminal Code (participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict or military action).
The US citizen faces seven to 10 years in prison.

When Kennedy left for Ukraine, he did not tell his father where he was going, only that he had decided against taking a summer job with a Los Angeles law firm, like he had originally planned.
“We asked him when he was starting [the job at the law firm],” Robert F. Kennedy Jr - who works in Donald Trump's cabinet - told PEOPLE in 2022.
“He had a good job and we were looking forward to having him stay with us. And he told us that he had given notice to the law firm and he was doing something else instead.”
Kennedy’s first job in Ukraine was operating drones, which his father thought 'was pretty dangerous'.

“The Russians have technology that allows them to spot you when you turn on the drones, so they can electronically see the pilot and then target the pilot with artillery, which kills anything within 100 yards," he added.
"He got a tripod-mounted machine gun that had to carry 1,000 rounds of ammunition," Robert added after his son was promoted to machine gun operator. "He was big enough and strong enough to carry that gun."
Kennedy is also known for dating hit singer Swift in the summer of 2012, reportedly crashing the wedding of his cousin Kyle. They reportedly split in October 2012 and Kennedy is now married to Brazilian artist Giulia Be.
