Tom Hardy made a candid admission about the current state of his health.

The hard man actor has opened up previously about the toll his legendary acting roles and just generally getting older have taken on his body.

Hardy made his film debut back in 2001 in Black Hawk Down and of course went on to appear in the likes of Bronson, Warrior, Peaky Blinders, Mad Max: Fury Road and as Christopher Nolan’s supervillain Bane.

And the 47-year-old hasn’t stopped disappointing with his big action gigs, with Netflix’s Havoc having been released earlier this year.

But in May, the star admitted he is starting to feel the impact of middle age with his decades of physically demanding roles on screen starting to catch up with him.

Meeting with Esquire for dinner in a London hotel, Hardy said he’d been feeling ‘dizzy’ that day.

“I took a Sudafed and it’s starting to work, so I feel better,” he said while on a press junket for MobLand. “But in the interviews I was sitting there, and you know when you feel not right, but you can’t tell someone you don’t feel right? Like, ‘Listen, if I pass out…’”

As he drank an alcohol-free beer with the interviewer, Hardy listed off his ailments, citing two knee surgeries, a herniated disc in his back and sciatica.

“And I have that… is it plantar fasciitis? Where did that come from? And why? Why?!” the actor continued.

“And I pulled my tendon in my hip as well. It’s like, it’s all falling to bits now, and it’s not going to get better.”

Talking about ways to manage his health, including ‘bespoke homeopathic treatments’, Hardy was asked if he’d consider stem cell therapy.

“Probably, yeah. I think if it comes down to the wire and it seems the sensible thing to do and I take advice,” the Venom star said.

Hardy has also been very open about his sobriety in the past, now over two decades sober from drugs and alcohol, having struggled with addiction when he was younger.

It was 2003 when he decided to really make a change, having reportedly woken up in a puddle of his own blood and vomit.

After speaking with a doctor, Hardy said: “I was told very clearly, ‘You go down that road, Tom, you won’t come back. That’s it. All you need to know’.

“And that message stayed with me clearly for the rest of my days.”
