The cause of death for Victoria Jones, daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones, has been revealed more than six weeks after she was discovered dead in her hotel room on New Year's Day.

The 34-year-old was found in the early hours of 1 January in the Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco, two years after her father petitioned a California court to get a temporary conservatorship over her.

Now, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in San Francisco has confirmed the cause of Victoria's death, citing 'toxic effects of cocaine' and ruling her death an 'accident.'

Police and fire services in San Francisco confirmed they had responded to a report of a medical emergency within the hotel at 2.52am on 1 January, where they found a deceased individual who wasn't named at the time.

Reports at the time suggested the woman may have suffered from an overdose, with staff at the hotel reportedly believing she had been drinking when they found her in her hotel room.

The day after Victoria's body was discovered, her family issued a statement thank people for their support, while asking people to respect their privacy.

"We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers," they said. "Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you."

In the year leading up to her death, Victoria is known to have been arrested at least twice. One arrest came after her husband called police to report she had been using cocaine in April 2025. He told authorities she had been using the drug while they stayed at his family's winery in Napa. When she admitted taking the drug, she was taken to a local jail, where the substance was found in her coat pocket.

Victoria was charged with being under the influence of drugs, resisting arrest, and possessing a controlled substance.

A few months later, a fight erupted between Victoria and her husband, in which she slapped him across the face. He later told police they had been arguing about her drug and alcohol use and she was charged with a misdemeanour domestic violence charge.

Victoria, who Tommy Lee Jones shared with his second wife Kimberlea Cloughley, followed in her dad's footsteps from an early age, appearing alongside him in Men in Black II when she was a child.

She also appeared in an episode of One Tree Hill and had a role in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, directed by her dad, before stepping out of the spotlight.
