Ed Sheeran had to make a quick dash across the UK after booking two gigs on the very same day.

We've all done it. Made plans with one friend without remembering the drinks with another squeezed in soon after. The guilt rising in our stomachs as we realise we may run very late or have to cancel and let one person down.

However, Ed Sheeran likely felt a whole new type of fear when having to make a beeline to another gig just hours after his first on Sunday, 12 June, located a whole 200 miles away.

Yesterday, Sheeran played in London at Wembley Arena for the Capital Summertime Ball with Barclaycard.

His set was scheduled for 2.00pm in the afternoon and lasted 20 minutes.

He then whizzed across the UK to Manchester to perform in part of his +–=÷x Tour at the Etihad Stadium.

Taking to his Instagram stories, the musician joked to fans about his tight schedule.

He said: "Manchester, I will see you tomorrow and I will also see you in London at the Summertime Ball.

"Two shows in a day, five shows in a weekend. Let’s do it!"

Sheeran's performance at the Capital Summertime Ball with Barclaycard was followed by English singer-songwriter Maisie Peters.

Ed Sheeran had a total of four shows in Manchester this week.

Sheeran took Peters under his wing after the pair met through their label, Atlantic Records.

Other artists who performed at London's Wembley Arena included Becky Hill, Jax Jones, Aitch and George Ezra.

Sheeran's show last night at the Etihad marked the final of four shows he played in Manchester this week. Across the shows he played to a total of 240,000 fans.

Despite currently being embroiled in a High Court trial, Coleen Rooney and husband, English professional football manager and former player Wayne Rooney, even managed to take some time out and join crowds on Saturday night.

Sheeran also played at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations last week.

In a post on Instagram he reflected that the celebrations had been an inspiration for him becoming a musician.

He wrote: "20 years ago I decided I wanted to pick up a guitar because I watched the Golden Jubilee on TV, saw Eric Clapton play Layla and said, ‘that’s what I wanna do'.

"10 years later I played The A Team at the Diamond Jubilee, and now 10 years on I’m playing the Platinum Jubilee this Sunday.

"Life is weird how it keeps coming full circle in lovely ways. Tune in on Sunday and see ya there x."

As well as sprinting round the country to perform a whole host of shows Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed a baby girl last month.

Sheeran and Seaborn already share Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran who was born back in September 2020.
