Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond And James May Won't Be Doing Any More Studio Car Shows

Jeremy Clarkson has announced he and pals James May and Richard Hammond will be no longer be presenting studio car shows.

"It's the end of an era," he told the audience while filming The Grand Tour recently.

But before you burst into tears and shout at me for ruining your Christmas, fear not - the trio will still be working, and driving, together; as their focus now shifts to big-budget specials, filmed on the road, which will appear on Amazon Prime over the next couple of years.

Confirming that the former Top Gear hosts won't be in studios with Clarkson said there's 'only so many time you can watch a BMW go around a track'. Which, I guess is a fair point, but I'd probably say that point was sooner than 17 years...

Speaking to the Sun, he added that he was 'too fat' to be climbing on stage.

"It's a really sad day," he told the newspaper. "I will miss the banter with each other and with the audience.

"But we've been doing that show for effectively 17 years - sitting around in studios, watching cars race around the track.

"Besides, I'm 58 and I'm too fat to be climbing on to the stage."

Revealing a bit about his new project for Amazon, Clarkson teased that 'even Marvel would be jealous' of the amount of money they've been allocated for a budget. So it's bound to be a bit of a treat for petrol-heads.

He's also said that he'd be keen to take his new show into uncharted, and potentially dangerous, territory, including North Korea. Rather you than me, Jez.

The three men have been signed up for another two-year deal with Amazon, meaning they'll be taking part in at least eight specials, according to the Mirror.

Amazon has also said it will work on new shows with each of the stars individually.

The third season of The Grand Tour will start streaming on Amazon Prime from 18 January 2019.
