Michael C. Hall Won't Rule Out Making More Seasons Of 'Dexter'

Well, it did end without wrapping things up...

Michael C. Hall has revealed - once again - that he wouldn't be against the idea of returning to his old role in Dexter if the show were to be brought back.

On the show, Hall played Dexter Morgan, a forensic expert by day, but a brutal serial killer by night. By and large, he would only hunt down bad guys to kill them, but it's still not on really, is it?

The 47-year-old actor spoke with the Daily Beast about the possibility of returning to his career defining role, which he played for eight seasons until it ended in 2013.

In the interview, Hall said: "Every time I'm asked about [another season of Dexter]. I say, 'Never say never'. The next thing I know there's an announcement on the internet saying, 'He's going to do it again'.

"The way that show ended gave no sense of closure for people and a lot of questions unanswered."

He continued: "He seems to be in this self-imposed exile, he certainly didn't ride off into the sunset. His sister died. It left a gnarly knot in some viewers' stomachs. I stand by how that 8th season ended."

Well, at least it didn't just pan out and leave forever like The Sopranos, so that's something.

He also opened up on the end of the show for his character - be warned, if you've not seen the show, spoilers are ahead.

Hall added: "If he had kept on killing people he'd have been fine, but he gets married, he opens his imagination and heart.

"He has a real connection to people, and all those people are compromised or destroyed in some way. For it to be all tidied up after that would have not been honest.

"For him to simulate his own death and extricate himself from the context of his life made sense to me. As far as any more of that happening, it's possible."

There you have it Dexter fans. It's not definitely happening but it's not not definitely happening.

This isn't the first time that the possibility of rebooting the show or creating a spin-off show has been put forward. Earlier this year, Hall told Variety: "When Dexter ended, I wanted to mix it up and felt like the cumulative effect of the things I have done since has served as a sort of 'Dexorcism.'

"[But] it's a possibility given how the show ended that we could revisit Dexter."

He added: "I have just yet to, for my part, imagine or hear someone else's idea that makes it feel worth doing. But never say never."

Never say never, folks.
