Mean Girls star Daniel Franzese shows off major weight loss in incredible transformation
A star of cult classic Mean Girls has shared his incredible weight loss transformation after making some lifestyle changes.
Daniel Franzese, 48, is best known for his portrayal of Damian Leigh in the 2004 movie, the best friend of Janis Ian who she describes as 'too gay to function'.
Franzese would himself come out as gay in 2014, and has previously spoken out about representation for larger LGBTQ+ people, telling TMZ in 2019: “Gay bigger people are invisible.”
The actor took to the social media platform Threads where he responded to a post which said: “Show your weight loss transformations. Let’s motivate and inspire someone today.”

In his reply, Franzese shared two side-by-side pictures showing before and after his weight loss regimen, Pink News reports.
“Three years. Down 135lbs. No booze, no sugar, workout four times a week (or more) now counting macros," he wrote in a caption accompanying the images.
Many fans took to the comments to share their thoughts, being delighted by how successful he had been in his efforts to lose weight, with one writing: “Danny you are doing amazing! Congrats on doing so well! Proud of you my friend.”
Some also shared their congratulations while also adding that he had been handsome before as well.
“Proud of you! You’ve always been amazing and gorge but so happy you’re feeling happier and better! It’s a hard journey!" another wrote.
One second replied: “Handsome ... both ways but I’m so glad you’re feeling yourself and this epic transformation!”
Meanwhile someone else said: “Both bodies are beautiful but you’ve made so much progress congrats.”
Franzese has also previously spoken about his weight loss with TMZ, saying that he had decided to lose weight after having a health scare.
He lost around 120lbs by this stage, having previously tried out weight loss medication but deciding that this would not be the right option for him.
Franzese has also spoken about looking for prestige roles which feature bigger characters as well, including speaking to PEOPLE in about Brendan Fraser being cast as a 600lb gay man in The Whale, a role which saw him winning an Oscar.
Fraser had donned a fat suit for the role, and Franzese said that actors like himself would 'jump at' an opportunity for a role like that.
“To finally have a chance to be in a prestige film that might be award-nominated, where stories about people who look like us are being told? That’s the dream," he said.
“So when they go time and time again and cast someone like Brendan Fraser, me and the other big queer guys, we’re like, ‘What the…?’ We can’t take it!”
Nonetheless, Franzese did clarify that he 'loves Brendan Fraser' and had felt 'very conflicted' about his casting in the movie.
Franzese has also previously spoken about the traumatic experience of conversion therapy, telling Page Six: “I needed help. I didn’t want to be gay. I didn’t know what to do.
“I went to one-on-one therapy sessions with a person who was trying to change me straight and make me pray the gay away and alienate all my allies.”
