Marvel fans have been sent into an absolute meltdown by Ryan Reynolds this morning (12 August). I mean, who else would it be but the franchise’s favourite trickster?
Yes, the actor appears to have teased that Deadpool is finally joining the Avengers.
And when I say teased, I mean really teased with the smallest little thing that also feels like the biggest thing. He’s not even directly said anything, rather just posted something that says a lot.
Reynolds shared a pretty cryptic post with Marvel fans today, immediately asking ‘what are you up to?’ as they questioned: “Is he playing or for real?”

Taking to Instagram, he simply posted a graffiti version of the iconic Avengers black and white logo, which has been spray-painted over with a red ‘A’.

And yes, it seems pretty likely that the spray paint would be the work of the one and only Deadpool.
There’s no caption on the actor’s post to give us any indication of what it even means. But it certainly does seem to tease some kind of Deadpool and Avengers crossover.
“Don’t do that. Don’t give me hope,” one fan commented, as another added: “If you are saying what I think you’re saying, I’m actually gonna scream.”

Could we really be seeing Wade Wilson in Avengers: Doomsday? Or even Avengers: Secret Wars?

Marvel announced the mega cast for Doomsday back in March with Robert Downey Jr.’s return confirmed last year, as he leaves behind Iron Man for Doctor Doom.
But while fans might want Deadpool in the ensemble films, Reynolds did previously say that if it were to happen, it would mean the end.
Maybe, just maybe, Marvel has gone back on that?

“If Deadpool becomes an Avenger or an X-Man, we’re at the end,” the actor told Time earlier this year. “That’s wish fulfilment, and you can’t give him that.”

Reynolds went on to add: “I’m writing a little something right now, that’s, I don’t know, it’s an ensemble. But, I like that [Deadpool] is isolated.”
It’s only been a year since we saw the chaotic superhero onscreen in Deadpool & Wolverine with Hugh Jackman as his new bestie, as well as officially cementing the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Well, I guess fans are just going to have to sit and wait to see if Reynolds is just having a laugh and winding fans up with the rumour or if he’s actually just teasing a real crossover for Deadpool and the Avengers.
