Viewers of new Guy Ritchie action comedy starring Henry Cavill voice same complaint as it finally becomes available in UK

The movie sees a motley crew of Nazi hunters heading behind enemy lines

Guy Ritchie fans are all saying the same thing as his latest feature-length effort is finally made available to stream in the UK.

Over the last five years, Ritchie 55, has worked tirelessly to bring the Wrath of Man, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, The Covenant and more to the silver screen.

As well as directing a handful of major Hollywood blockbusters, the Hertfordshire-born creative recently brought The Gentlemen to Netflix and now, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare has just landed on Amazon Prime Video.

The movie stars Reacher’s Alan Ritchson alongside Argyle’s Henry Cavill and Baby Driver actress Eiza González.

Based on a book written by author Damien Lewis, the year is 1941 and the UK is struggling to halt Nazi Germany’s invasion of Europe.

As hope begins to ebb away, Prime Minister Winston Churchill (played by Rory Kinnear) takes a gamble and daringly launches Operation Postmaster: an unsanctioned and unauthorised suicide mission.

Led by Brigadier Colin Gubbins (Cary Elwes) and Lieutenant Commander Ian Fleming (Freddie Fox), the pair work with Gus March-Phillipps (Cavill) to assemble a motley crew of mercurial killers willing to strike behind enemy lines.

If The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare sounds like it could be right up your street, then the good news is that you don’t have to wait to watch it.

The Lionsgate flick is available to watch on Prime Video now - a decision many have been questioning.

Taking to social media to have their say, one X user wrote: “Did The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare not get a cinema release in the UK? Yikes.”

Prior to Amazon putting the movie on streaming, a second user wrote: “Strange how this film released in America in April is still not viewable in cinema or on streaming in the UK, only video on demand @PrimeVideo.”

“Had a lot of fun with Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,” another gushed. “Shame we never got it at the cinema here, would have liked to take my Dad.”

Someone else penned: “Finally! And us Europeans..where all the sh*t happened..are finally happy to have the chance to watch it. Thanks to Prime Video!”

A fifth added: “Been looking forward to this. Did it get a cinema release? As I didn’t hear about till Amazon Prime started advertising it.”

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare opened in US cinemas earlier this year where it grossed $27.1 million (£21 million) at the box office.

According to Deadline’s figures, it debuted at $9 million, finishing fourth behind A24’s Civil War, vampire horror film Abigail and Godzilla x King: The New Empire.

Given that it’s already streaming on Prime Video, it’s not known whether The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare will ever be given a UK theatrical run.

But hey, Ritchie fans; we can dream, right?
