Inbetweeners fans share wild plot predictions as comedy legend’s daughter joins cast

The upcoming Inbetweeners movie could be one of the most eagerly-awaited of British comedies – at least amongst its legion of irreverent fans.

Now the daughter of American gen X comedienne Ruby Wax, Marina Bye, 33, is the latest addition to the franchise, reports the Daily Mail.

Marina is joining the ranks of Inbetweeners veterans Simon Bird (Will McKenzie), James Buckley (Jay Cartwright), Joe Thomas (Simon Cooper) and Blake Harrison (Neil Sutherland).

Will emily Atack return to The Inbetweeners?

The plan for the movie was reported on last month, with speculation that Emily Atack would be returning firmly quashed – to the disappointment of fans – after it was alleged she was still embroiled in a longstanding feud with Buckley.

Marina is rumoured to have inherited her mother’s sharp wit, which she is expected to bring to bear against her established male colleagues during filming.

Some may accuse Marina of joining the ranks of the Nepo-babies thanks to her being the daughter of 73-year-old Wax and 71-year-old television producer Ed Bye.

However, the actress has already appeared in Amazon Prime’s 2025 thriller The Girlfriend, starring as Pandora Henry. She has also won minor roles in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Wonka and We Were The Lucky Ones.

She also appeared in the movies A Caribbean Dream and Breathe.

Who is Marine Bye?

Marina has two siblings, actress older sister Madeline, 36, and older brother Max, who is a coder.

Known as the ‘Siblings’ Marina and Madeline host a comedy podcast and YouTube channel, in addition to appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe.

In 2020, Marina spoke with The Guardian: “When you've lived with someone all your life and come out of the same womb, you speak the same language.

“You understand each other's rhythms, each other's humour. When Maddy and I do comedy together, it's like we could finish each other sentences. We never collide, we never interrupt.”

Ruby told The Guardian in 2017: “Maddy is a comedian and Marina is an actress.

“Maddy and Marina have just started a comedy show called Siblings. If they weren't funny I wouldn't encourage them but they are.

“When they are all round for dinner they make [brother] Max laugh so much he cries.”

Ruby provided insight into Marina's comedy prowess in a 2025 Instagram post: “Every year my kids pose by our tree - Marina always dresses like the crazy child and the other two pretend to be normal. Here is this year's edition.”

The Inbetweeners began life as a cult comedy show broadcast by Channel 4 between 2008 and 2010. After building a fan base of loyal viewers, two films were released in 2011 and another in 2014.

What do fans say about The Inbetweeners 3?

There was a reunion in 2019, however Emily Atack was not invited due, it is rumoured, to a ‘past fling’ and has since refused to take part in a future film.

Producers are said to be kicking themselves, particularly since Atack’s profile received a huge boost after her memorable appearance in the hit show Rivals.

One fan started the debate by writing: “Inbetweeners 3 predictions: Jay is woke, Neil is rich from stocks/crypto, Simon is back with Tara. The film is Will's stag do and his fiancée is Charlotte or just someone too fit for him so that's a joke made all film.”

Another fan posted: “Predictions: Simon's getting married but Tara's back on the scene and he's had his head turned. Stag do antics see Neil (who's in recovery) in bother...

“Will funds the trip with the bonus from his City job. Jay lives hand to mouth and is an awesome stay at home dad to five kids.”
