New Inbetweeners movie gets update as stars share behind-the-scenes photo

The Inbetweeners writers have pleaded with fans to stop seeking out spoilers for the upcoming, saying 'it’ll be a more enjoyable watch going in knowing nothing'.

Ever since Netflix confirmed earlier this month that Will, Simon, Jay, and Neil were teaming up for one last adventure, the rumour mill has been running rife regarding what exactly the gang will be getting up to – and this is something which writers Iain Morris and Damon Beesley are urging fans not to do.

Taking to Instagram to share an image of stars Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and James Buckley rehearsing together, the writers also urged fans to avoid seeking out set photos and theories about the plot going forward.

"We’re all excited for the film, but the rumour mill can sometimes get carried away," the pair wrote.

"Our advice is simple: if you want to fully enjoy what we’ve got in store for you, we’d suggest avoiding photos and conjecture about the story.

"We promise it’ll be a more enjoyable watch going in knowing nothing."

Morris and Beesley went on to add that they would share any future updates from set on their newly created Instagram account.

The post comes days after what appeared to be leaked images showing the characters attending a wedding appeared online. Will, Simon, Jay, and Neil were all suited and booted for the shoot while Marina Bye, daughter of comedian Ruby Wax, was dressed as a bride.

While it's not clear whether one of the main characters is the groom or simply a guest in attendance, the wedding sequence did confirm that Emily Head would be reprising her role as Simon's teenage crush Carli D’Amato.

Meanwhile, James Buckley caused debate online after he appeared to spoil his character's job during a recent Cameo appearance.

In the video shared to his account, Buckley can be seen congratulating a couple on the birth of their twins. However, eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice he was wearing a neon-coloured jacket with what appeared to say 'Cartwright Plant' on the front – suggesting that his character was working in some form of construction business.

The writers also addressed growing speculation around who from the show's original cast would be returning for the film, specifically Rivals star Emily Atack.

Not naming any characters in particular, the pair wrote: "We’d like to clarify that, try as we might, we couldn’t squeeze every single beloved character from the TV shows into this new film.

"That's on us, and us alone. Again, people will speculate about why we make these choices, but sadly the truth is we just couldn’t find a plausible way in the script to bring back all our lovely ‘friends’. It’s not as headline-worthy, but it’s the truth."
