Bam Margera set to return for Jackass 5 but won't film any new stunts

This comes just four years after he was fired from the last Jackass film, leading him to sue the creators

Bam Margera has been confirmed to be returning for the upcoming fifth Jackass movie after a years-long feud with the cast of the films.

Johnny Knoxville confirmed yesterday (8 January) on Instagram that Jackass would be returning for another movie in 2026, with other members of the cast such as Steve-O, Dave England, and Wee Man all sharing the news.

Of the original cast though, the most curiosity of what they’re doing now tends to fall with Bam Margera after the skateboarder was fired from the most recent film, 2022’s Jackass Forever.

Margera has spoken candidly in the past about how existing issues with alcoholism and drug use became exacerbated by the death of childhood friend and castmate Ryan Dunn.

This culminated in him being fired from Jackass Forever after breaching a ‘wellness agreement’ which required him to be sober throughout the making of the film.

He claims that he was ‘coerced’ into signing the ‘draconian’ agreement while in rehab and was fired after testing positive for Adderall.

He ultimately sued Knoxville and Jackass co-creator Jeff Tremaine and even allegedly sent threatening messages to Tremaine, leading to a restraining order being issued against him.

They settled out of court and Margera publicly stated you ‘couldn’t pay him enough’ to return for another film and claimed Knoxville and Tremaine had ‘ruined the legacy’ of Jackass.

Margera has seemingly been on a far more positive path to sobriety in recent years, having claimed that he is almost two years sober recently.

The Jackass star has also signed a deal to return for the fifth film, but is unlikely to feature in any new material or stunts.

Variety has reported that Margera has struck a deal to return via archival footage.

Whilst TMZ claims discussions are still up in the air regarding him filming new scenes, Variety has stated that their understanding is that he will not be returning.

In an interview with Cinemablend just last summer, Margera fully ruled out any kind of return, meaning that this is a huge step forward even if he won’t appear in new scenes.

He said: “What they did to me, making me go to treatment and paying for it, and then not putting me in a movie, and, you know, I had to go to court over it.

“You couldn’t offer me enough money to want to do another Jackass with them. The damage has been done.”

Margera remains close to Steve-O and has appeared on his podcast, however has publicly called for a bare-knuckle boxing match with Knoxville over the feud.

Knoxville revealed on Instagram that the film was set to release this summer, saying: “Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang. We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!!

“We will see you in theatres June 26th. More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!”
