The pair are working together for the second time successively after shooting 2024’s Drive Away Dolls together.
Qualley’s latest work with Ethan Coen marks the second of his planned sapphic B-movie trilogy with the newly released Honey, Don’t!.
Releasing in cinemas today, it stars Qualley as a small town private detective who investigates a series of deaths tied to a local church that borders on cult.
Qualley stars alongside Aubrey Plaza as a local cop and Chris Evans as the reverend (and cult leader).
Reviews have been mixed verging on poor, similarly to Drive Away Dolls viewers seem to either be big fans of the campy and sapphic vibes of Honey, Don’t! or put off by the B-movie style.

In one scene that is sure to have viewers blushing, Qualley’s Honey O'Donahue and Plaza’s MG Falcone meet for a drink at a bar.
The scene is included in the trailer and sees Falcone and Honey flirting while trading information about the case, leading Plaza’s Falcone to slide her hand between Honey’s legs.

The fairly graphic intimate scene is shown from the shoulders up, but is obvious from the pair’s movements, and is confirmed when Falcone’s hand comes out and is shown to be… less than dry.
Speaking to Out about how they shot the scene, Qualley gave away a clever filmmaking trick they used.

She said: “It was fun. There's someone from the props department on their knees holding a jar of coconut oil. Aubrey's got to lift her finger up and have it be wet.
“It was just playing with different levels of how far you get in that setting and trying to work out the physicality there to make sure that I was saying what we were trying to say, but it was really funny and really fun.”

She went on to heap praise on Plaza, saying: “I don't know anyone that doesn't just love her, and I've loved her from afar for such a long time. Getting to work with her was such a dream.”
The film has debuted with a 48% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 47 on Metacritic.

Radheyan Simonpillai of The Guardian gave the film a middling but ultimately positive three star review, saying: “These characters and more don’t so much connect (to each other or some overarching plot) as they brush past each other.
“But Honey’s time with them makes it all worthwhile, because Qualley is such a commanding force.”
Honey, Don’t is out in cinemas now.
