There’s nothing quite like learning the lore of one of your favourite movies, but one uncomfortable behind-the-scenes moment on Superbad might be too much to handle.

If you haven’t watched the film which follows a group of high school students trying to dip their toes into the life of partying and dating, then you’re surely missing out.

With an all-star cast like Michael Cera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jonah Hill, and Emma Stone, it was bound to be a success.

However, while we were all busy cringing at home in the safety of our detachment of the events, one cast member’s mum was right there to witness all the crazy details.

But she was not there for a pivotal scene that might have been a little too much for her to handle.

The famously raunchy teen flick has a lot of WTF moments, such as the case when a drunk teenager gyrates on Hill’s character’s leg and leaves a little ‘blood brothers’ surprise for him at a party.

It also shows a lot of vomit, violence and questionable tactics in search of losing their virginities.

On the note of virginity taking, for the film’s 15th anniversary, the cast and crew revealed one moment to Vanity Fair about a moment where Cera’s mum had to scuttle off set before she could be left traumatised by a particular scene.

Cera's mother was there when his character Evan was about to get jiggy with his love interest, Becca.

However, Martha MacIsaac, who played Becca wasn’t happy to be filming in front of the parent.

She said: "And it was like, 'She needs to leave immediately. Your mom can't be here. She's too kind. I can't try to do that to you with your mother looking.' She left pretty quickly."

As for Mintz-Plasse, he shared that he was excited by the scene at first, stating that he thought it was ‘cool’ to shoot a sex scene.

"I had never really even kissed a girl at the time," he said.

At 17, he had to be chaperoned by his mother for the scene, which he called ‘pretty uncomfortable’.

But he did joke: "She was loving it up, though. She was having the time of her life, watching her son do that."

According to director Greg Mottola, there was a specific way he planned to shoot the scene, which would involve zoomed views.

"The way I'm going to do this is closeups," he said. "So basically the camera is her point of view, then it flips and the camera becomes his point of view."

The aim of this was so they ‘wouldn't spend an enormous amount of potentially illegal time’ filming their sex scenes.

The actor spoke about this more at a fan expo last year when asked what the craziest thing that happened during filming Superbad was.

He said: “The weirdest moment was, I was 17 so the sex scene that I shot, my mom had to be there on set. I didn't know that at the time, because it was my first movie.

"I came to set, I was like 'oh I'm doing my sex scene, I've got a boner'. All that kind of ****. They were like 'where's your mom', what are you talking about?

"She had to drive all the way from the valley, we had to halt production for like an hour and a half. She came to set and she was a **** delight, man.

"She was eating popcorn, talking to the producers, watching me have fake sex. It was absurd, absurd.”
