
It's not unusual for old movies to resurface on Netflix, and in many cases, they somehow fly under the radar without too many people even noticing they've been added.
The latest of these movies to be added to the entertainment streaming platform, Netflix, is now be hailed as one of the greatest films ever made, or at least it is according to fans of the film over on Reddit.
Released back in 2014, and starring Emma Stone, Michael Keaton, and Edward Norton, Birdman is a black comedy-drama film directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu.
What is Birdman about?
Birdman follows has-been actor, Riggan Thomson, played by Michael Keaton, who was made famous for playing a superhero, known as Birdman.

Following his fall from fame, Riggan attempts to reignite his fame by writing, directing, and even staring in his own Broadway show. But, his internal voice, which also happens to be Birdman's voice, has other plans and would rather see the actor return to his blockbuster roots.
The movie is a dark comedy, in which, Riggan frequently imagines himself having superpowers, such as levitation and telekinesis, leaving Riggan to appear unhinged throughout the movie.
Even 10-years after its release, Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) is still considered to be an incredible movie, receiving an impressive 91% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 7.7/10 on IMDb.

The movie also did well at the 2015 awards ceremony, picking up four Academy Awards. The movie walked away with Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography awards.

Both Emma Stone and Edward Norton also walked away with best actor in a supporting role, while Michael Keaton was nominated for best actor.

The movie was created using a series of carefully selected hidden cuts, which helps give the appearance of being a one take movie.
The question as to why the movie was shot to look like a single take has also sparked huge debates around the film for several years now.
The most common theory is that the movie was put together like this, because it resembles a play, which of course matches up with Riggan's desire to put on a Broadway show, as well as giving the movie a more real edge, and a sense of being in the moment.
