Viewers on Netflix have been left divided after watching a popular action thriller starring two of the Hemsworth brothers.

Due to the household recognition the surname Hemsworth has among film fans across the world, it's not hard to imagine a movie starring not one but two of the brothers doing well commercially.

The latest of the brothers' collaborations is currently available to watch on Netflix - and initial reviews for the flick left both audiences and critics divided.

Starring The Hunger Games' Liam Hemsworth alongside his older brother Luke, William Eubank’s action movie Land of Bad is a must watch for fans of high-stakes films which see the US Military facing off against one of the world's many 'bad guys'.

In Land of Bad the US Army's special forces unit is sent deep behind enemy lines in the Philippines to take on a terrorist militia - only for two of their men to be captured during the mission.

Liam stars as Sergeant JJ Kinney, a daring young action hero who is one of the men taken hostage, while his brother Luke plays the role of Sergeant Abell.

Russell Crowe plays their commander, who is guiding the team remotely from a base, while Milo Ventimiglia and Ricky Whittle round off the action-packed cast.

The movie is full of the explosions, grisly fights and death-defying scenes expected in a military action movie - which is why it's unsurprising to see Land of Bad fly up Netflix's viewing charts since its 18 July release on the streamer.

However reactions to Land of Bad haven't all been positive, with the film getting a mixed first response when it dropped in cinemas earlier this year.

Land of Bad currently sits on a critic score of 65 percent on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, with one critic labelling it a 'by-the-numbers action-thriller'.

But it seems to be doing a lot better among general viewers, with a 94 percent audience score suggesting that causal watchers are more than happy to be entertained by the well-trodden formula of a military action movie.

"The last stretch of the movie I was on the edge of my seat rooting for the main characters. It was so tense. Absolutely loved it," one viewer wrote, while another declared Land of Bad was the 'the best military ops action film of 2024'.

Not all viewers were impressed though, with one person slating the 'cartoonishly cliched' good guys and bad guys structure, while another even going as far as calling it the 'Barbie version of Rambo'.

Land of Bad is available to stream on Netflix now.
