People think Scarlett Johansson film released in 2013 'exactly predicted' year 2025

Although, some of the 'predictions' aren't as creepy in the same way

People reckon a film starring Scarlett Johansson that was released back in 2013 ‘exactly predicted’ this year.

Considered by many as one of the best films of its decade, the sci-fi rom-com is often more talked about for its ‘bizarre’ orgasm scene.

Yeah, I’m talking about Her, the flick where a man develops a relationship with an artificially intelligent assistant with a female voice.

Joaquin Phoenix stars in the movie alongside Johansson which eerily, is set in this very here 2025. And the Black Widow star even ended up having to decline real-life offers after Her was released, as it was suggested she could actually lend her voice to tech.

Johansson said it ‘felt it went against [her] core values’, and I mean, I don’t know about you, but people chatting to AI bots feels pretty apt.

It doesn’t even just seem like stories you read online anymore, but first-hand tales from your mates who have taken to having chats with AI.

I mean, maybe you’re going to it for advice or to just have a catch up to pass the time when the group chat aren’t replying.

But it’s those stories of people falling in love with AI (like Phoenix’s character in the film) that draw the creepy similarity with Her.

“Pretty crazy how Her (2013) accurately predicted fashion and weird relationships with AI girlfriends in 2025, the year in which the movie is set,” one user wrote on X.

As a second responded: “Damn. They knew AI would be the sh*t in 2025 actually. Only thing is AI doesn't have Scarlett’s voice lol.”

A third echoed: “Good point. It’s pretty impressive predicting the AI stuff, but *unworldly* to predict the return of the moustache.”

Meanwhile, a fourth eerily said: “It used to be sci fi, now it’s just a drama.”

Some suggested the ‘script writers knew’ while others wanted to go back for a rewatch to ‘see how surreal it is’.

With another writing even more cynically: “I just realised - guys, how the F**K did Her (2013) predict - AI voice conversations - the return of moustaches - the death of skinny jeans AND IT'S SET IN 2025?????”

But one went on to joke it was the other way round, more of an inspiration rather than a prediction: “Movies and fiction books have a big influence on tech nerds duh.”

As someone else wrote: “Maybe not just predicted but acted as primary incentives.”
