Anna Faris is back in the spotlight after years working in TV, returning to the Scary Movie franchise for the newest film.
Faris was cut from the fifth film in the franchise, explaining that the film series was taken away from the Wayans brothers after the fifth film.
She had very little experience before appearing in the first Scary Movie, stating in interviews that it was her first time acting in a comedy. Despite that, she made comedic history alongside Regina Hall and the Wayans Brothers, and the majority of the original cast has returned for the newest movie.
Scary Movie 6 has been a huge success, debuting to $55 million in the US – the biggest of the entire franchise, even if the reviews have been less than stellar.

In discussing what she wanted from the character with Marlon Wayans, Faris has stated in multiple interviews that it was her idea for Cindy to be a full MAGA supporter in the new film – even joking in the trailer that she can’t hug Regina Hall’s Brenda because she’s 'supposed to be racist now'.
She told Dexerto that she was ‘always pushing for’ Cindy to be in a ‘classic MAGA Rabbit hole… The kind of person that you saw outside of the Walmart during quarantine that was raising some kind of crazy-ass fuss.’
Despite the Scary Movie franchise usually being pretty unafraid to poke fun at everyone and everything, Faris has also revealed that she actually had a joke about the First Lady Melania Trump cut from the film.
Melania had previously launched a campaign in Trump’s first term called ‘Be Best’, focusing on issues effecting young people and children.

Continuing to Dexerto, Faris said: “There was a moment where I am getting wasted, like so drunk. I am in my truck and I look into the rearview mirror and I say, ‘Be best, Cindy Campbell. Be best.’
“That didn’t make it, but I liked my little winking there.”
“You know, what are you gonna do? You gonna be mad at Cindy? I’m in a movie that is truly the most offensive movie ever made, and I’m the lead of it.
“And I participate in offensive ideas. I think I can kind of do anything. It liberated me.”

Marlon Wayans had already warned audiences before the film came out that it may offend them, telling Entertainment Weekly: “Just know that we’re not just laughing at you, you get the chance to laugh at others. When we did White Chicks, we made fun of everybody.
“We made fun of Black people, we made fun of white people, we made fun of Hispanic people. That’s just what we do.
“We make fun of the world, make light of the world. It’s not to harm, it’s to bring humour.
“You may offend people here and there, but, hey, not every joke’s gonna land 100 percent, but if you tell a joke and 100 people laugh and one person walks out, that’s still a good joke.”
Scary Movie 6 is showing in cinemas now.
