The trailer for the highly anticipated fifth instalment of Toy Story has been released and it looks as if there's going to be a major change to Woody.

The long-running animated film series has delighted kids and adults alike for generations, with the gang of toys finding themselves a new home with Bonnie in the third film.

However, it seems as if they will face a battle for her attention in the new film, which will be released in June of this year, after she is given the equivalent of an iPad.

It's not the only way in which the film is seemingly making itself more modern however, as the trailer shows off some signs of Woody ageing, after he's spotted with a bald spot. Thank goodness for his trusty cowboy hat.

It's perhaps surprising enough to see Woody even in the trailer, given that we all said an emotional goodbye to him back in the 2019 film, which culminated with him leaving his pals in favour of becoming a 'lost toy' with Bo Peep, as he realises he is no longer Bonnie's favourite.

Despite Tom Hanks also saying an emotional goodbye to the character he's voiced since the mid 90s, he will return for the newest film alongside long-time voice actors Tim Allen and Wallace Shawn.

Hanks said at a press conference in 2019: "I didn't want to have any self-consciousness for what I knew was going to be the last few hours I was spending with the movie.

"When it came to pass, I felt as though I was on the other side of the river waving to everybody I had left back in the old country. It was pretty profound.

"You drive into the lot, through the same gate, you park in the same spot they had for you, then you go through the same doors, get in your car and you drive back through.

"And you think, 'I have recorded the last moment of the current Toy Story'."

Well, fans certainly won't be complaining about the concept of having the gang back together, even if Woody's shiny new bald spot will take some getting used to.
