Ozark fans will love 'f***ing insane' horror movie with debut 10/10 reviews as fans left 'screaming the building down'

The film is a terrifying watch that was one of the hottest scripts in town

A brand new ‘insane’ horror movie that debuted with 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and left fans ‘screaming the building down’ releases today in the UK and United States.

In great news for fan of the hit Netflix show Ozark, the movie stars Julia Garner alongside Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Justin Long and Benedict Wong.

The film is directed by the creative mind behind Barbarian, a ‘10/10’ horror that left viewers ‘feeling unsafe’.

Garner stars as Justine Gandy, the teacher of a third-grade class in America.

One day, every single child in her class bar one disappears at the same time on the same night with no trace.

The film, called Weapons, co-stars Brolin as Archer Graff, the father of one of the missing students convinced that Justine played some part in their disappearance as the pair investigate who or what took the kids.

The movie was one of the hottest scripts in Hollywood, leading to a multi-studio bidding war to be the companies that brought it to life.

Jordan Peele, the horror master who made Get Out and Nope, reportedly fired his management after they failed to win him the bidding war to be a producer on the film, according to Deadline (though he did part ways with two of his managers after the deal fell through, it wasn't confirmed why).

Weapons initially debuted with a whopping 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes however as of its opening day it has dropped to 97 percent due to just six middling reviews out of 160.

With a 90 percent fan score 8/10 on IMDb, reviews have been stellar from fans and critics alike.

Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com gave the film a 3.5/4 star review, saying: “In the end, Zach Cregger wants to take you on a ride, and so he’s got to provide both hills and valleys, producing a horror film that’s equally hilarious and chilling.”

Freelance film journalist Bill Bria, writing for DiscussingFilm, gave the film a four star review, saying that ‘Weapons is like a dark bedtime story. It’s an urban legend that takes you to some totally unusual or dreadfully anticipated places’.

Fans have given it similarly effusive reviews, with one saying on X: “Weapons has changed the game. A genre masterclass of genuine fear & soul-rocking imagery.

“Zach Cregger is firing on all cylinders, creating a sense of horror in its most primal form. Buckle up, this is generational.”

Another suggested it was like ‘if Longlegs stuck the landing'.

A third tweeted: “One of the most insane f**king movies I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”

A fourth fan said of one particular scene: “Everyone was screaming for 30 seconds when this scene happened In Weapons. Literally an all timer scare.”

Weapons is available to watch in cinemas now.
