Netflix has added another horror classic to their ever-growing catalogue, this time adding a terrifying film labelled a ‘10/10’ watch by horror fans.
Whether it be adding ‘unsettling’ horror films like Infinity Pool or ‘mind-bending masterpiece’ shows like Dark – Netflix has one of the best catalogues for terrifying movies about.
Now though, Netflix has added a new film which not only scared fans, but left some shaking and describing ‘feeling unsafe’ because of watching it.

Whilst many of us will relate to the feeling of watching a horror film and thinking there are monsters around every dark corner, for it to have this effect on aficionados of the genre indicates it must be a classic.
Called Barbarian, the film being added to Netflix coincides with director Zach Cregger's upcoming film, Weapons.
Barbarian follows a woman who has rented an Airbnb before realising that a strange man is staying there.
As the film goes on it is discovered that there is a dark secret in the house, far beyond the bizarre house guest.

Starring Georgina Campbell, the film also stars Bill Skarsgard, Justin Long, Matthew Patrick Davis, and Kate Bosworth.
The feature film debut of director Cregger, the horror film was added to Netflix over the weekend, just under two months ahead of his hotly anticipated sophomore movie.
With 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, Cregger’s Barbarian was a shock hit of 2022 – and horror fans rave about it.

On the r/Horror subreddit, an online hotbed for the world’s most fervent horror fans, one viewer commented saying: “The first half of the movie was SO tense, I was actually shaking and could barely watch!

“Waiting to see whether it was going to be a plot of supernatural or “realistic” scares had me at the edge of my seat.”
Another fan posted in the same subreddit, saying: “This movie is the first one where I looked away at some parts.”
Without spoiling the bizarre and unsettling moments present in the film, the redditor went on to say: “This movie has this eerie feeling throughout the first act and it outright made me feel uncomfortable at some parts. And I will value the movie for it, as I usually don’t get effected by horror movies.”

Another fan concurred, commenting: “The cutaways were jarring but really made me feel unsafe narratively.”

The film was similarly beloved by critics, as is demonstrated by the near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.
Siddhant Adlakha, writing for Empire Magazine, gave the film four stars in his review, saying: “Wildly unpredictable, Barbarian begins as a tale of awkward circumstance, before mutating into something intensely claustrophobic, satirically amusing, and in its best moments, both.”
Meagan Navarro of Horror-focused website Bloody Disgusting gave the film 4.5 stars, saying in her review: “Zach Cregger eschews conventions to keep audiences on edge, making for one of the most delightfully unhinged viewing experiences in recent memory.
“A simple rental nightmare sets up an intense pressure cooker scenario with no limits to the madness.”
Barbarian is available to watch on Netflix now.
