A new 18+ red band trailer has just dropped for the second season of Sky drama Gangs of London, showing the new instalment is certainly not for the faint-hearted.

WARNING: TRAILER CONTAINS GRAPHIC AND VIOLENT CONTENT

The brutal red band trailer - designed to promote a programme's gorier, more adult themes - gives fans a taste of what’s in store for the new series, which drops on Sky on 20 October.

It was accompanied by a set of brand new first look images, also shared exclusively with LADbible.

In an introduction to the trailer, Michelle Fairley, who plays Marian Wallace, tells us: “The new season is almost here, and we have a very special treat for you. Here is our exclusive red band trailer for season two of Gangs of London.”

She then warns: “It’s not for the faint-hearted.”

What follows is a two-minute onslaught of people being impaled, shot, strangled and punched – and, frankly, they’re the lucky ones.

At arguably the trailer’s most gruesome moment, someone even gets the web between their thumb and index finger sliced open, while another part sees someone’s neck slashed by a trail of broken glass.

“Where did you think this would go?” Fairley’s Marian asks midway through.

“Polite handshakes?”

She’s got a point, to be fair, as the show became notorious for its graphic violence and gore after season one landed, having been billed by Sky as an 'ambitious, visceral, action-packed thriller.

The first instalment followed the Wallace family as they dealt with the death of their patriarch Finn (Colm Meaney), formerly the head of London's most powerful crime group, whose assassination sent shockwaves through the city as son Sean (Joe Cole) took over.

With the Kurdish Freedom Fighters, the Pakistani Drug Cartel, Welsh travellers and other criminal bodies to answer to, what Sean didn't realise was that one of his biggest enemies came from within his own organisation – after undercover cop Elliott (Sope Dirisu) managed to infiltrate the family.

A synopsis for season two says: “One year after the death of Sean Wallace and the violent reckonings of series one, the map and soul of London has been redrawn. The surviving Wallaces are scattered, the Dumanis broken and estranged, and ex-undercover cop Elliot is now being forced to work for the investors.

“To restore order, the investors have aligned behind heroin baron Asif Afridi and together they have installed a new ruling force in London in the form of brutal gang leader - Koba.

"His vision for the criminal landscape is a dictatorship, a world in which old school gangster codes don’t exist and in which he holds a complete monopoly over London’s drug trade.

“But this monopoly can’t last forever. The gangs are fighting back - who will win the battle for London’s soul?”

You can watch season two of Gangs of London on Sky and NOW from 20 October.
