A heated war between House of the Dragon fans is brewing online as fans are calling out other viewers for romanticising the show’s incest storylines.

The series has been a hit with fans, although the incestuous relationship between Daemon (Matt Smith) and his niece Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) has been a point of contention.

Incest should come as no surprise to Game of Thrones fans, however the debate surrounding Daemon and Rhaenyra’s relationship has divided fans after episode four of House of the Dragon aired.

In the episode, Daemon runs into Rhaenyra, noticing that she has ‘matured’ over the last couple of years since he left to fight the Crabfeeder and the Stepstones.

Later on, Rhaenyra is taken on an excursion at night by her uncle, where the pair had a very tense and sexually charged exchange at a brothel.

Some fans have called the uncle and niece scenes 'hot'.

Daemon continues to sexually pursue his niece and even asked her father Viserys (Paddy Considine) for permission to marry her.

And in the fifth episode, Daemon goes one step further by trying to persuade Rhaenyra to put an end to her plans to marry Laenor Velaryon (Theo Nate).

She responds by urging him to take her to Dragonstone to marry her.

Some fans admitted that they didn’t know how to feel after finding the tense moment ‘hot’ and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

“I feel conflicted after this episode,” one person shared. “The whole Daemon and Rhaenyra scene was kind of hot, then gross, then hot again. This show has corrupted me lol.”

A second viewer tweeted: “I feel like I need therapy for rooting for Daemon and Rhaenyra to hook up. Damn you, Matt Smith, with your blonde hair and hot sinister sneers. I feel like GOT has made everyone casually accept incest on TV.”

Other fans simply find their incestuous relationship to be spicy. “Daemon and Rhaenyra are too hot for this world,” another House of the Dragon fan tweeted. “The tension, the chemistry, the angst.”

While someone else shared: “I know it's wrong!!! But f**k Daemon and Rhaenyra are f**king hot together WTF!!”

However, other viewers are criticising those who find the relationship attractive.

One fan tweeted: “I keep seeing sh*t like ‘it was weird for Cersei and Jamie but for some reason it's not for Rhaenyra and Daemon’ Uhm no?? It's still gross lmao tf.”

A second viewer wrote: “Thinking about how I commented that it was gross that Daemon got Rhaenyra drunk and tried to have sex w his NIECE and people are coming at me [because] I got their ages wrong. like ?? THATS HER UNCLE. WHO CARES THEIR AGES.”

Another fan shared a tweet directly at the Daemon and Rhaenyra shippers. “If you ship Rhaenyra and Daemon, I want you to look within yourself and figure out what the f**k is wrong with you, sick f**k,” they quipped.

While someone else added: “Tf is wrong people who ship daemon n rhaenyra? thats literally his niece...”

Milly Alcock had previously said that her intimate scenes with Matt Smith were not awkward to film, despite the age difference and their characters being related.
