Pirates of the Caribbean producer would ‘love’ to have Johnny Depp come back to the franchise

Pirates of the Caribbean producer would ‘love’ to have Johnny Depp come back to the franchise

Jerry Bruckheimer says Depp is a fantastic actor and says it's a shame personal issues have infiltrated the star's work.

Jerry Bruckheimer would love to see Johnny Depp return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

The legendary Hollywood producer says it's been a shame to see the actor's personal issues affect his work life.

Depp was famously dropped from the humungous Disney saga after his ex-wife, Amber Heard, aired alleged details of their marriage in 2016.

Heard claimed Depp domestically abused her and he denied the allegations.

Their highly publicised defamation case in the United States ended earlier this year with Depp as the winner and many called for the actor to be reinstated as Captain Jack Sparrow.

While it's unclear whether Disney would have him back in the iconic role, the franchise's longtime producer says he would welcome the actor with open arms.

Depp reckoned that Jack Sparrow's brain must be pretty boiled, so he decided to try some extreme heat for himself.

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter (THR) if Disney would bring Depp back, Bruckheimer replied with: "You’d have to ask them.

"I can’t answer that question. I really don’t know.

"I would love to have him in the movie.

"He’s a friend, a terrific actor and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do."

Bruckheimer also spoke about the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 movie that was meant to star Margot Robbie.

While the Australian actor said the project was no longer going ahead, it seems like it's still in the works for Jerry.

He explained to THR that they've been working hard on the script for that idea but says it 'needs a little more work'.

"It’s alive for me. It’s alive for Disney," he said.

Margot Robbie didn't think people would notice her in The Wolf of Wall Street.

"I’m sure she was disappointed it didn’t go first — or maybe not because she’s very busy, so it might be a blessing to push this a bit. We believe we’ll get it made. It’s a very strong story."

While it's unknown if Johnny Depp will ever return as the Captain on the big screen, the actor hasn't thrown the character in the bin.

He made a young dying fan's dream come true with a Jack Sparrow surprise.

Depp has delighted fans by launching into the iconic character over the years, but when it came to 11-year-old Kori he decided to do something extra special.

Captain Kori, as he's fondly known on his YouTube channel Kraken The Box, was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which affects regular blood flow to the heart.

Despite undergoing two heart transplants since 2018, sadly his body rejected the organs and he and his medical team have decided to not go through with another.

This means he's now in palliative care, with his mum Pixi telling the BBC that there 'is no cure now'.

Depp sent a personal video message to Kori, which was said to be organised through the Make A Wish charity.

The actor could be seen in his usual Captain Jack Sparrow garb and makeup.

Staying fully in character throughout, he said with his usual slurred speech patterns: "Captain Kori... I understand you're quite the YouYube channel man, or you shall be and all that YouTubeness.

"So what I'm saying is I shall be glad to follow your YouTube channel and I shall tell all my friends to follow your YouTube channel.

"And that, I think, will make for a wonderful entertainment... momentary lapse of togetherness."

He added: "I shall be there, watching moments with you... tubing-you YouTubing.

"I wish you the best of luck, I'm your number one fan Captain Kori, all respect and love mate."
