What is Johnny Depp’s Net Worth in 2022?

After multiple lost roles in the wake of his trial with Amber Heard, what is Johnny Depp's net worth in 2022?

Johnny Depp, 58, shot to fame in the late 1980s, starring in the 21 Jump Street series. He has since become one of Hollywood’s highest grossing actors, starring in all five Pirates of the Caribbean films and blockbusters including Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland.

However, much has changed since his ex-wife Amber Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed, in which she described herself as ‘a public figure representing domestic abuse’. Depp went from being one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood to resigning from the Fantastic Beasts film series at the request of Warner Brothers. The loss of earnings, which Depp alleges has come as a result of Heard’s allegations, was a key factor in his decision to sue Amber Heard for $50 million (£40.5 million).

In the Depp vs Heard trial, which began in April 2022, Jack Whigham, Depp’s agent since October 2016, testified that Heard’s op-ed had been ‘catastrophic’ for Depp’s career and cost him $22.5 million (£17.9 million) that he would have received from a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film.

All this talk of lost earnings has left many wondering how much Johnny Depp is actually worth?

According to The Numbers, the forty films in which Depp has played the leading role have grossed $8.3 billion (£6.7 billion) at Box Office worldwide. Celebrity Net Worth put Depp’s personal net worth at $100 million (£81.2 million). Between 2003 and 2016 Depp earned $650 million (£528 million) in salaries alone.

Depp started making serious money in the late 1980s. As Tom Hanson in 21 Jump Street, a role he played between 1987 and 1990, Depp reportedly earned $45,000 ($37,000) per episode.

Depp earned $10 million (£8.1 million) for Pirates of the Caribbean, The Curse of the Black Pearl. As the film series grew in popularity, so did Depp’s earnings. He is reported to have made $300 million (£243.6 million) across the five films.

Depp’s increasingly large salaries have been accompanied by an increasingly lavish lifestyle. According to Celebrity Net Worth he spends $30,000 ($24,000) per month on wine alone, amounts that would rival Jack Sparrow himself. The actor also reportedly spends $3.6 million ($2.9 million) per annum on a forty person staff.
