Johnny Depp Rumoured To Star In Beetlejuice 2 With Ex-Winona Ryder

Johnny Depp Rumoured To Star In Beetlejuice 2 With Ex-Winona Ryder

The rumour comes as Depp's defamation suit against his ex-wife Amber Heard wraps up.

It has been rumoured that Johnny Depp will be starring in the upcoming Beetlejuice 2 alongside ex-girlfriend Winona Ryder.

Nothing is confirmed yet, but fans searching the cast list have noticed that Ryder, Depp and Michael Keaton appear to be on the bill.

The rumour comes as Depp's defamation suit against his ex-wife Amber Heard wraps up.

Beetlejuice is the 1988 film directed by Tim Burton and it follows the spirits of a 'deceased couple who are harassed by an unbearable family that has moved into their home', which leads to them hiring a malicious spirit - played by Michael Keaton - to drive the family out.

Part of that unbearable family was Ryder, who was 17-years-old at the time and played Lydia Deetz - the iconic goth girl you've probably dressed up as for Halloween.

And Ryder recently confirmed to USA today that she'll *hopefully* be reprising her iconic role.

Nothing is fully set yet, but the Stranger Things actor said: "I’m definitely excited and I’m really hopeful that it’ll happen. The only way we would do it is if everything was perfect and we had all the people – obviously Michael [Keaton] and obviously Tim [Burton]."

While fans were excited that their favourite creepy band was getting back together, they realised that if you Google search the cast list for the new movie, one more prolific actor pops up - Depp.

One fan took to Twitter to share the news, saying: "Thrilled to see Johnny Depp added to the cast of Beetlejuice 2."

Another wrote: "I'm happy for Johnny!! Robert Downey Jr wants Johnny for the next Sherlock Holmes!"

While a third added: "Love Beetle Juice, Michael Keeton, Wynona Rider and Johnny Depp!"

However, others were far more skeptical about the news, saying: "So you people did a Google search for Beetlejuice 2, saw his name pop up, and think that means he got cast in it? LMAO! I can see why you stand with him."

Depp still hasn't been confirmed the news but fans seem excited for him to (potentially) join the cast. However, we might not know for sure for some time, as the film isn't due for release until 2025.

In the meantime, Depp has been pretty preoccupied by his ongoing defamation trial with ex-wife, Amber Heard.

Depp is suing Heard over a 2018 op-ed that she wrote for The Washington Post in which she claimed to be 'a public figure representing domestic abuse'.

The trial wraps up this week, with a jury set to deliberate on the results.
