While many people have congratulated the happy couple, some aired their concern that they were tying the knot ‘too young’

Jon Bongiovi has responded to criticism of his son getting engaged to Millie Bobby Brown at a young age - having been able to dish out some advice off the back of a successful 30+ year marriage himself.

Brown, 19, announced last month that she was engaged to Jake Bongiovi, 20, who is the son of legendary Bon Jovi singer Jon.

In a post to Instagram, the Stranger Things star shared a snap of the pair together, showing off her ring.

"I've loved you three summers now, honey, I want 'em all," the actor wrote.

Sharing the news with his fans, Bongiovi also posted a picture with the caption: "Forever."

While many people congratulated the happy couple, some aired their concern that they were tying the knot ‘too young’.

“I know Millie Bobby Brown isn’t 15 anymore, but 19 is still way too young for this, isn’t it!?” one tweeted.

Someone else said: “I just read that Millie Bobby Brown got engaged and sure, it’s cute, but we all remember that she’s only 19 yo right? That s**t don’t laaast.”

Now Jon Bongiovi has weighed in on the matter, having spoken about the engagement on Radio Andy on SiriusXM.

Beaming, he told host Andy Cohen how three of his four kids are currently engaged – also including son Jesse, who posted a photo of him getting down on one knee last August.

Cohen pointed out that Jon had been with wife Dorothea since high school, meaning they have been together since they were ‘young’.

When asked if he ‘worries’ for his son and wife-to-be, he replied: “I don’t know if age matters.

“You know, if you find the right partner and you grow together.

“I think that would be my advice really, growing together is wise.

“So, I think that all of my kids have found the people that they think they can grow together with and we like them all.”

As for whether or not he’s seen his future daughter-in-law in action in Stranger Things, the singer said he had 'of course’ watched it, going on to say: “Millie is wonderful. Her whole family are great."

And most importantly, he added: "Jake is very, very happy."
