Kim Kardashian West has revealed that while she was initially embarrassed seeing her then-husband, Kanye West, wear a ‘Make America Great Again’ baseball cap, she now finds it 'admirable'.
Kim recently sat down with former New York Times columnist Bari Weiss for a podcast interview, where she reflected on the rapper’s decision to wear the cap during his Saturday Night Live performance back in 2018.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star described herself as a ‘very neutral’ person, so naturally she was shocked at her husband making a controversial political stance out in public.
She remembered feeling ‘very nervous’ as she said: “I didn’t want him to wear the red hat.

“I’m not really a rule-breaker, so my personality would be like ‘OK, you guys don’t like the red hat? I’ll take it off'.”
She recalled: “That night I was very forceful with him and told him he had to take off the hat.”
However, looking back at the situation, Kim said she would do things differently now.
“Now, looking back, I think, why should he take that off if that’s what he believes in? Why can’t he wear that on TV? Half of the country voted for [Donald Trump], so clearly other people like him.”
Kim admitted learned a lot from the situation, saying: “No matter what, it taught me to be a little bit more empathetic for people that just want to do what they want to do: freedom of speech! And if you want to wear the hat, wear the hat.

“I respect the fact that he knew exactly what he believed in and always stood by that. To me, that’s a good quality to have, no matter who is against you and no matter what the circumstances are.
“I think that it’s just admirable and it’s just a really cool quality. Even if it’s not what I agree with, or even if I would have done it differently, I think it’s commendable.”
Kim’s words will be music to Kanye’s ears as, just last month, he said God will help him get back together with his estranged wife.
As reported by Page Six, West said: “Kimye created a narrative that’s not the narrative that God wants.

“The narrative God wants is to see that we can be redeemed in all these relationships.”
Well, amid rumours that the pair may actually reconciling and have been privately working to repair their relationship, who knows what the future holds for one of Hollywood's most famous couples.
