Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are set to reprise their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin in a new upcoming Marvel series.

According to Deadline, Echo will follow Daredevil, whose alter ego is blind attorney Matt Murdoch, as he searches out a former ally.

That ally is reportedly none other than superhero Jessica Jones, who was played by Krysten Ritter.

The show will also star Hawkeye actor Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez.

Kingpin appeared in Hawkeye when he took Maya in after her father died.

However, later in the series, it’s revealed that Kingpin was responsible for killing Maya’s dad, which leads her down a deadly path of vengeance.

The two come to a head in the series finale when Maya fires a gunshot at Kingpin, heard off-camera, leaving Kingpin's fate unknown.

But last year, D’Onofrio received a call from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige hinting that he and Cox would later be appearing in another Marvel series together, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

After receiving the phone call from the Marvel boss, D’Onofrio immediately contacted his Daredevil co-star, telling the outlet: “As soon as Kevin revealed the fact that Charlie was going to participate, Charlie called me immediately and we had a huge conversation about it, which didn’t include anything about Hawkeye.

“But when they showed the phone shot of Kingpin in [last week’s] episode of Hawkeye, I immediately called Charlie and we had another two-hour conversation.”

Disney+

If the rumours are true, then Echo could mark the first time superheroes Daredevil and Jessica Jones are reunited on-screen since Netflix’s 2017 series The Defenders.

Both Daredevil and Jessica Jones were abruptly cut from the streaming service after Netflix ended their five-year license with Marvel, as per CNN.

But now that Disney has launched their own streaming service, there is a possibility these shows may be revived or moved to the platform.

While Disney+ hasn’t officially confirmed anything, Feige teased that these ‘higher quality shows’ could see a resurgence.

Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb issued a statement also teasing the future of these superheroes to Marvel fans.

"Our Network partner may have decided they no longer want to continue telling the tales of these great characters... but you know Marvel better than that," Loeb said.

Echo is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2023.
