Stranger Things Artist Releases Early Concept Images Of Vecna That Are Far More Terrifying

Michael Maher Jr shared what the Season 4 villain could have looked like... and it's a big 'nope' from us.

The concept artist behind Stranger Things villain Vecna has released alternate images of what the overlord of the Upside Down could have looked like.

Concept artist Michael Maher Jr shared the images to his social media accounts and it turns out Vecna could have looked way scarier.

The three-time Emmy Award-nominated artist also revealed some very creepy tidbits about the designs.

"[One] design featured skin that would loosen and fall off in patches," the visual effects artist said in a social media post.

"One version had [skin] hanging from his jaw, [while] another had skin melted over his eyes.

"When his powers were used he would cry blood."

He also revealed how directors wound up choosing the Vecna that we are familiar with on the small screen.

"In the end, Vecna needed to be expressive so the designs didn't make the final cut," Maher Jr said.

It didn't take long for the mock-ups to go viral, with internet users sharing the designs on Twitter, Reddit, and other social media platforms to show off how Vecna might have been portrayed in the Netflix series.

One social media user said: "That first one is f**king horrifying."

A second added: "First one is the stuff of nightmares."

A third pointed out that the earlier options are chilling: "These are way scarier than the Vecna they chose. The first or second one would have actually felt terrifying."

On Reddit, the mock-ups that didn't make the cut were compared to Harry Potter's Voldemort, Sauron from Lord of the Rings, and the monsters from Resident Evil.

So to put it simply, scary as hell.

Someone with a Reddit account with the username 'Henry Creel' - aka the person that turned into Vecna in the show - chipped in with their two cent's worth.

"All of them look quite excellent," the Creel account said, with others pointing out that the designs were now officially 'Vecna approved'.

The real Henry Creel, British actor Jamie Campbell Bower, has also wowed fans with his voice after behind-the-scenes clips showed how he recorded Vecna's spine-chilling voice.

The BTS video has caused Stranger Things fans to erupt in awe of Campbell Bower, as many are starstruck over the actor's incredible vocal range.

The video shows just how low he made his voice go to achieve Vecna's terrifying growl.

Multiple users flocked to the post in shock, revealing they thought Vecna's voice was a result of voice effects.

The actor admitted he even ended up scaring multiple members of the cast, including Millie Bobby Brown, while he tried to maintain Vecna's voice off-screen,
