The Boys Star Karl Urban Says They Ran Out Of Fake Sperm While Filming Herogasm Episode

The New Zealand actor disclosed how the latest episode made everyone bring their A-game.

The Boys actor Karl Urban revealed that production ran out of fake sperm while filming the highly anticipated ‘Herogasm’ episode.

For those who have seen it, you’ll know there's no shortage of sexually explicit scenes taking the show to new climaxes…so to speak.

But, for those who haven’t, you can only imagine what you’re in for if the prop department was running low on fake jizz.

While speaking with Digital Spy, the New Zealand actor disclosed how the notorious episode made everyone bring their A-game.

He said: "There's more action, more drama, more heart.

"And I think it pushed all the departments. Like, the makeup department, they ran out of fake blood on episode three, and sperm on episode six. So it was a challenge for all involved."

The most recent episode is based on a comic book limited series of the same name, which sees The Seven head off to ‘Herogasm’, an annual party for Vought-sponsored superheroes.

The show’s writer and creator, Eric Kripe shared with GamesRadar that he had been trying to make ‘Herogasm’ since the show’s first season but faced pushback from production.

He said: "It took me two years of working closely with Amazon before the third year, much like a patient parent, they were like, 'Okay, you've got it, you've earned it, you can have Herogasm."

He added: "I mean the audience will tell me, but I do think it’s our best season yet."

Jack Quaid, who plays Hughie Campbell in the series, told Collider the notorious episode was his favourite so far.

“That whole episode – I’m never going to shoot anything like that again. And the fact that all the storylines wrapped up around that event are so interesting and cool,” he said.

“I think it’s one of the best episodes we’ve ever done and I’m really proud of it.”

The 30-year-old actor also shared a hilarious moment when a crew member made a critical error on set.

“It was the Covid-19 season, so we had a lot of places where you have hand sanitiser, and I overheard a crew member say, ‘Oh man, I got the lube bottle confused with the hand sanitiser bottle.’

“And he had just lube all over his hands. You are never going to get that on any other show.

"It made me laugh so hard and made me feel really bad for that person."

Hmmm…I think we found the reason why faux sperm was running so low.
