Virgin Island season two has had its first participant lose their virginity in tonight’s episode, with Tegan being the second person in the history of the show to have sex at the retreat.
Tegan was a 25-year-old virgin when she went on the Channel 4 show, working as an accountant. She realised she was gay seven years ago, and revealed she had never had as much as a sober kiss before appearing on the TV show.
Through sessions with the show’s surrogate partners and sexological bodyworkers gave her the confidence to lose her virginity to Risdon Roberts.
Speaking exclusively to LADbible about the moment where she lost her virginity on Virgin Island, Tegan stated that the biggest barrier prior to having sex was her internalised homophobia.

She stated she had been 'keeping it to herself', adding: “All sudden I was told I was allowed to do all these things that I never thought I was. Subconsciously I never thought I was and yeah and now it's just one of those things that you just learn and adapt and being in such a judgment-free place and trying things out just really let me process my feelings and emotions and not be so worried.”
Tegan has not had sex since she appeared on the show, but has managed a big first
Speaking about her time dating since the show, the 25-year-old Scot said: “I haven't had sex again, not not yet. That wasn't really my goal as such, I didn't really have a set goal but I thought I'm gonna leave myself open to the possibility and the opportunities that come across.”

She also revealed that she had been on a few dates with a girl and had experienced her first sober kiss away from the island, adding: “It’s small progress, it's not massive progress, it's small and that's what I was looking for. I'm very happy with the way the position I'm in right now.
“I'm very open to possibilities and opportunities and it's taken away that barrier that I had before the island where I'm like ‘okay I know that I can go all the way now.'"
The 25-year-old said losing her virginity felt like a ‘relief’ – but her most memorable moment wasn’t aired on TV
Speaking about the moment she had sex with her therapist Risdon, she said: “At the time I didn't even like think anything of it and it was when we were when we were lying in bed afterwards I was like ‘oh this has just happened’ and we talked about it and talked about how I felt about it.”
She said she immediately felt a ‘big relief’ afterwards, adding: “I realised it's all happened within the space of like 10-15 minutes and then I realised afterwards ‘my life hasn't changed drastically’.
“It’s not a massive deal which I already knew from watching like the first season.” She said she’s not ‘all of a sudden become a different person’, adding that ‘one aspect of her life has been tweaked slightly’.
When asked about her most memorable moment of the session where she lost her virginity however she said it was the intimate aftercare shown by Risdon. Tegan stated that every session had an aftercare session where the therapists and her would talk, cuddle, and process what had happened, stating it helped her ‘not overthink’ the connection with Risdon.
She went on to add that, whilst it may ‘sound silly’ her overriding memory of the session is the aftercare in which they talked after having sex. Tegan said: “It's really weird, the whole business side of things was really good.
“But the bit I remember most is us cuddling afterwards and me talking about how I feel after and how she feels after and then just lying there and laughing and joking. That's the bit I remember the most, but I remember it all. It was yeah memorable.”
Meet the Virgin Island sex therapists
Shelby Devlin, BDSM expert

The 39-year-old is a BDSM coach and kink expert who joined Virgin Island season two for a short stint halfway through.
She has a master’s degree in sexuality studies, along with 15 years’ experience as a sex educator.
On the show, she introduced the group to paddles, whips, collars and chains.
She also worked with Ed, 27, discussing the idea that he has a humiliation kink after being bullied as a child.
Risdon Roberts, surrogate partner therapist

Risdon, 42, born in Japan and now based in Los Angeles, actually started out as an actor, appearing in TV shows such as Bite Me and This Place is Weird, with her film work including Evidence and Cavemen.
She switched to a role behind the camera as an intimacy coordinator, before becoming a surrogate partner therapist.
She says she was inspired to take part in Virgin Island after seeing Kat Slade’s work on the previous show.
On her Instagram account, she says she primarily works ‘with cisgender heterosexual men to overcome sexual dysfunction and naïveté’.
She adds: “As a former man hater I unexpectedly went so deep as a feminist that I accidentally developed compassion for men and how systems of patriarchy hurt *them* to. Whoopsies.”
Kat Slade, surrogate partner therapist

Kat, 35, has returned for season two, explaining: “Seeing the real, lasting transformations from the first series made it feel great to come back.”
She is a Reiki practitioner and is trained in the Somatica Method, a body-based, experiential approach to sex therapy that goes beyond just talking therapy.
In season one, she was involved in an uncomfortable moment when one cast member’s behaviour in a session meant she had to end it immediately.
But she seems to have found her time on the work immensely rewarding for the most part, and she helped one 24-year-old man lose his virginity.
