Metallica has praised Stranger Things creators, The Duffer Brothers, for using their 1986 smash hit ‘Master of Puppets’ in the series' finale.

The legendary heavy metal band expressed gratitude as their single is currently receiving the Kate Bush treatment thanks to the final episode in the newest season.

The band took to Instagram, revealing they were absolutely ‘stoked’ to see their song feature when Eddie Munson shredded the guitar on the top of his trailer park home during an epic battle sequence in the Upside Down.

They wrote: “We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away... it’s so extremely well done, so much so, that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn’s hands in the trailer!! How crazy cool is that?”

They added: “It’s an incredible honour to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.”

Since the final episodes dropped on Netflix, the song has been climbing Spotify’s Top 50 Global playlist and is currently sitting at number 17.

I mean, pretty good for a song that dropped nearly four decades ago.

The song is easily one of the band’s most popular songs and has received both commercial and critical praise.

‘Master of Puppets’ was placed number 22 on its ‘100 Greatest Guitar Tracks list’, and VH1 even crowned it as the third greatest heavy metal song ever, right behind Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and ‘Iron Man’ by Black Sabbath.

Metallica is set to make some serious coin with their newfound audience, just like Bush.

According to CBS News, Kate Bush has made more than $2 million (AUD $2,907,886 or £1,650,630) in streaming royalties since season four of Stranger Things debuted, as her song 'Running Up That Hill' featured in several episodes.

And you best believe Bush is receiving a hefty amount of that doe, as her company, Noble & Brite, owns the recording rights to the song.

Bush took to her website and said she was overwhelmed by the ‘unexpected’ success.

She wrote: “I’m overwhelmed by the scale of affection and support the song is receiving and it’s all happening really fast, as if it’s being driven along by a kind of elemental force. I have to admit I feel really moved by it all.

“Thank you so very much for making the song a No one in such an unexpected way. Kate”
