Mission: Impossible Director Hints Tom Cruise Will Be Doing Some Outrageous Stunts For New Film

Christopher McQuarrie posted a birthday tribute to Tom Cruise, sharing a photo of the actor dangling from a helicopter.

Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie has hinted Tom Cruise will likely be doing some absolutely outrageous stunts for the next film in the franchise.

The director shared a photo of the actor dangling from a helicopter to wish him a happy birthday and many feel it's a sneak peak at what Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One will have in store for everyone.

It’s hard to believe Cruise is now 60 and is able to perform death-defying stunts that still manage to turn heads.

Of course, it sent the internet into a frenzy, as one person wrote: “Tom Cruise is 60?!?!?!? WTF?”

Another commented: “I wish myself to be forever young.”

A third person wrote: “Idc if my money is going straight to the Department of Defence and the Church of Scientology, this dude puts on a good movie.”

While another wrote: “WOW, I’ve never felt so old.”

Agreed. My lower back has never hurt so much from looking at an image.

Although McQuarrie didn’t disclose where the photo was taken, it’s likely from the set of the upcoming Mission: Impossible 7 film.

The flick is set to be released next year on July 14, and, from what McQuarrie has teased, we can expect terrifying stunts we didn’t think imaginable, even for superhuman Tom Cruise.

Cruise celebrated his milestone birthday at the 2022 British Grand Prix in England, according to news.com.au.

The Risky Business actor reportedly spent the day chatting to celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey and congratulated his pal Lewis Hamilton for placing third.

Definitely not bad company at all.

The 60-year-old sure has a lot to celebrate as his latest movie, Top Gun: Maverick, garnered over $1 billion (AUD $1,455,922,000 or £810m) at the box office, making it the highest-grossing film of 2022 thus far, as per Variety.

According to the outlet, the film’s success at the box office is attributed to the ‘critical praise’ and also ‘became an old-fashioned, word-of-mouth hit’.

The film’s commitment to stunt work has also made headlines, as cast members are really flying fighter jets and delivering their lines from a cockpit.

In a promotional video for the film, the Speed actor said that conveying the authenticity of what aviators go through was always important to him.

He said: “I wasn’t ready to make a sequel until we had a special story worthy of a sequel and until technology evolved so we could delve deeper into the experience of a fighter pilot.”

I mean, for a Cruise film, would we expect anything less?
