Although House of Dragon star Milly Alcock is a favourite among the fans, the actor is set to be replaced in the next episode.

Last night (18 September), millions of people tuned in to catch episode five of the Game of Thrones prequel, which saw King Viserys Targaryen's (Paddy Considine) health declining.

Two of House of Dragon's main characters will be replaced in episode six.

The show itself is set 200 years before the epic events of Game of Thrones, focusing on the Targaryen civil war that became known as the 'Dance of the Dragons'.

While it features many of the details fans love about the original HBO show, House of the Dragon spans a much wider time frame than GoT.

As such, some of the younger characters will be portrayed by older actors when the episodes jump forward in time in episode six.

That includes 22-year-old Alcock, who portrays the King's daughter Rhaenyra and has been on quite the journey up until this point.

The fan favourite will be replaced in the sixth episode of the show as the storyline jumps forward by around a decade, as confirmed by showrunners Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal, the Mirror reports.

House of Dragon takes place over a longer time period than Game of Thrones.

The older Rhaenyra will be played by Emma D'Arcy, 30, whose previous acting credits include Truth Seekers.

In an interview with the RadioTimes, the actress explained that she didn't know what she was auditioning for, at first, because the prequel was kept tightly under wraps.

She said: "Initially we were given made-up sides for an unnamed project for an unnamed network.

"And I'm very naive so I was like 'Oh I don't know what it is.' I was like 'Oh, it's like a fantasy series.'

"And I rushed off a self-tape in about 20 minutes and thought that would be the end of it. I hear that other people knew – I don't know how I didn't receive that information."

Alicent gave Viserys his long wanted male heir.

Emily Carey, 19, who plays one of the series' other young stars will also be replaced in episode six by a slightly older actress, Olivia Cooke, 28.

Cooke's acting credits include the 2018 hit Ready Player One.

As reported by the Mirror, Cooke said of the character at the LA premier: "[Alicent] is the complete polar opposite of who I am.

"She is a product of the patriarchy, and she's quite a proud product of that. She's a traditionalist, and she believes in order, and in ruling the kingdom in the way things have always been done.

"She doesn't want any change, whereas I'm a staunch progressive. So it was quite interesting to try and tap into that."

House of Dragon episode six will be released on Monday 26 September at 2am BST. House of the Dragon airs on Sundays on HBO, and on Mondays on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
