A man has spoken out about the ‘real reason’ he threw up on a Channel 4 show.
Appearing on the TV show Open House: The Great Sex Experiment, the series follows previously monogamous couples looking to open up their relationship.
In the case of one couple that appeared on this season, Tom and Lauren, Lauren was slightly more excited about the prospect than Tom, saying it had been her idea ‘from the start’.
The Devon man had spoken about experiencing body issues with taking his shirt off in front of others after gaining weight following a heart condition diagnosis.

At one point one of the relationship coaches on the show, Effy Blue, encourages the pair to engage in a couple swap to take things to the next level.

Tom is then seemingly shown throwing up, making it seem as if this was entirely due to being told his partner should sleep with another man and he should sleep with another woman.
This then became a viral story online where he appeared to have thrown up as a direct result of being told this.
The couple however have spoken out about this in a new interview with the Daily Mail, seemingly suggesting that they’ve been done over by Channel 4’s edit on this particular occasion.

Lauren and Tom acknowledged that the stress of planning a couple swap played a part due to the pressure Tom felt under, though it was not the sole reason.
Lauren said: “So Tom throwing up, they actually cut the scene. So that was actually because he had to be a life drawing model.”

Life drawing modelling involves posing nude whilst a group of people draw your body, making it understandable that Tom threw up considering he had stated he had body issues around taking his shirt off in front of others.
Ultimately the pair were able to engage in swinging with a couple called Gage and Olivia.

Talking about how ‘nerve-wracking’ it was to meet them, Tom said: “It was really nervous in that sense. But yeah, it was mainly because I got so overwhelmed and it just took the toll on me, basically.”
They ended up overcoming this as the pair ended up sleeping with another couple, something shown in graphic detail on the show.

Lauren went on to say that the episode was cut ‘differently’ than they had expected.
She goes on to add: “They made me out to be kind of like a experienced sex pest that basically irrelevant of Tom's health condition, wanted to swing and if we didn't, we'd break up.”

She addressed online backlash criticising her, saying that she ‘knew that [they’d] get a bit of trolling anyway’.
Lauren added: “It was more just the shock of watching how they cut it, which you never know how they're going to until, it obviously shows.
“It was just a little bit of a shock, it made up for it with the second [episode] doing really good.”
The pair have spoken about how the show has helped them, claiming they are both more confident as a result and have continued swinging.
